What a great rehome story.
I tell Sydney to go potty when I put him on his playgym because that's what he does automatically. I'm just trying to teach him the words. Then when he does it, I say "good, you went potty", but he won't do it in the cage when I tell him, before I take him out. How did you potty train her?

They are so smart aren't they.. Echo has been taught to go on his play gym too. He will say Echo poop when he goes and then say "good boy"

Its kinda important not to potty train as I have heard several birds refusing to go during hte day when the owner is not home and got very Ill from it.
best thing to do is watch the body language and notice when they start shifting or getting nervous. then move them to a safe spot. when they go, you can make a big deal out of it,so they know they did right by letting you know first. there are acceptable places to go, and places that arent. I think that is what Limpy is trying to do.

You've done an awesome job helpin & working with Babe.
I've been doing something similar with Grace before I put her flightsuit on her, I say, "It's time to get your suit on!", as I take her from her cage. I hold her over a bit of paper towel and say "You gotta poop first. You ready?" She squats a bit, I hear a little *kuff* of breath as she releases. I give her praise and a kiss or 2 for doing what she was told. "GOOD BIRD! *smooch* Oh what a very smart birdy girl you are!" ![]() Then it's on to getting her suit on.

I never make her hold it
At home I alway take her to her cage and tell her to go poop. One day she rolled one of her wooden toys over and it droped in the fender skirts on her cage and made a loud noise and I heard babe say poop. I about fell out of my chair laughing at her LOL.

Same here Echo doesnt hold it except all night in his cage. He started doing that on his own. He does not want to go in his cage but will go when he is on top of it. I guess he thinks it makes a difference. We just take him to the play gym for his morning poop when we uncover his cage. He actually started this on his own. We just gave it a name.
