Wierd ...or not?

OK...how do I put this....For a long time Pita had a blue happy hut, and as far as I can tell he never really went near it. I got him a yellow one because I heard that colors matter, especially if it's a similar color to the bird. Well, the last couple of days he can't get enough of it, but instead of sleeping in it, he will wedge himself between the hut and the cage, then proceed to make these purring noises, bob his head, and rub his beak along the bars of the cage. He will also go inside the hut, and do the same thing......

is this normal, or is he mentally disturbed.....LOL He's 9 months old, so is this some sort of sexual thing, or does he just love his happy hut?

Hmmmmm....sounds kinda like some nesting behavior to me.

I'm sure other folks will chime in but in the wild most parrots nest in tree cavities. If he's not getting cage territorial or aggressive, I see no problem with letting him do his thing!

No, not aggressive at all. He loves his cage, and makes the rounds to all his toys. I leave the door open so he's all over his cage when he's not on me. He has gotten a lot more cuddly...like right now he's in my shirt, I call it "shirt surfing"...LOL, so maybe he's discovering how comfy things are to cuddle.....when he's not cuddling me of course.

Most avian species, it is the male who prepares the nest

and entices the young chickie in...he's a bit young for real nesting behavior...hes just practicing...ya know....boys start young

In my opinion, he's too darn cute for his own good! This behavior is not safe for you so you should send him to live with me!! Ill come pick him up so this way I can sit on your comfy sofa before I split with your fid!!

Oh no you don't! I am next in line for Mr. Pita! He is just to cute!

Danny stands up next to his happy hut and rubs his head on it but never goes in, he also attacks it when he gets mad, especially if I get too close to his cage when he doesn't want me too. Goofy birds...
