The "moment" you fell in love with your bird

well when i joined BB 1st lisaB said "ya know your gonna have a moment where you just think ..im inlove".. to be honest i thought she was a bit loopy...caue i already knew i loved my birds more than anything...how could i have a moment where i realise i love them right??

well i emailed lisa a story today and i will post it on here using the exact same words i wrote to lisa no editing (unless i see typo's..ugh i hate when i make typo's lol )

thats right! i had my "moment"...

OMG...i just thought you'd like to know...i had my "moment" you were talking

about today!!!

i was nursing an african grey at work until the vet arrived..the poor thing
has suspected beak and feather! hes only 13weeks old and you can tell he is
such a pet..i felt soo sorry for him...a petshop owner brought him in so he
doesnt even have a loving home as such to care!

but after scrubbing my arms till they were raw and completely disinfecting
myself i went home, looked at zuppy, marley and tango in their cages and
just thought omg i would literally die if i found out these guys had that
horrible virus!...i was even scared to take them out just incase i had
missed a spot on my hand disinfecting!..washed my hands again lol and let
them all out...

to be honest im not the emotional type of person but i atually cried...these
guys are my babies, to be told that they were more than likely going to die
would be heart breaking but to know that once this bird leaves the vets
office tomorrow its going back to the petshop where nobody cares about him
just how much money they can get...i guess as im looking at zuppy playing
with his hoops right now i think how awful it is that nobody cares about
this poor bird..i love him and the others more than anything else in the
word...and its all your fault im crying because you were the one who said id
have this moment!!! lol

by the way i know not all petshops think about the money..the one i work at sometimes certainly cares more about the animals than the money..i mean this one obviously cared somewhat to bring the bird to the vets but its just i know he wont be bringing it into his home to nurse it..hell leave it in the back room of the shop till it go's on its way

Lisa B..a Little loopy? nahhhhhhh Well, maybe just a little!
But hey, thats what I like about her!!

I have my moments over and over. They usually come after Alex bites me, and I say "What was I thinking to have 4 birds!" But then he says "step up!" holding up those long skinny toes of his, and my heart melts. Id take a bullet for these guys!

I have that "moment" every time I think about how Togo saved my life almost 4 years ago. (I'll repost the story when the anniversary comes along...very soon.)

It's just me and the wee Beetle-brat. I absolutely adore that little guy. I don't know when I realized how much I cared for him but there are times when I just can't wait to get home to see him. Even on days like today, when he screeched all morning long while I was trying to sleep ;)

Ya know, my guys dont make a sound until I open the bedroom door. My Afa is so sweet in the morning. She cuddles under my chin, and I think, I lover her so much I could cry! Sometimes we talk about what we would do if something happened to them, then I cry again!

E, for some reason I thought you were married with kids!

First time I felt something was when we got Pita in at 2 months (I worked at Petco). I've never really had birds. I had Finches years ago, but they just want to be fed and left alone basically....lol So I knew nothing about parrots, especially baby's.

Second time was watching Amanda, the manager at the time hand feed him the day we got him in. He was sqwaking something awful, scared to death. The minute she got the food near him, he did that baby bird thing, and she looked at him and said."now I'm your best friend"

3rd time, was when I got to hand feed him for the first time....and then "I" was his best friend.

Love hit when I was walking back from feeding him, and he snuggled up under my chin, and gave me a kiss. One of the guys that worked there said, "I think you've just been picked by a bird"

My life hasn't been the same. Even on the days when I think I made a mistake taking on this responsibility, then he poops and says "good boy".....and my heart melts.

I think I fell in love with Laker's picture - it was what drove me to the shelter.
These days he 'melts' my heart when he skuttles over to stare intently at me. He loves to serenade me & that's heart warming too - he'll do it from his cage or on top of my head or into my ear as he sits on my shoulder.
