Can you see what I see?

Some could look at this & think it's kinda cute,
but it makes me nervous as all helk.....

IMHO, that is a future attack just waiting to happen.
From studying the cat's body language, the only thing stopping a full out stalk & strike is the size & the defensive attention of the BFA coupled with the cat's young age, lack of confidence & experience.

SOL, the cat is gonna manage a full surprise pounce on the bird and BOTH of them are gonna get hurt. It only takes one small scrape of a claw infect the bird with Bartonella henselae which causes CSD.....
or a single tooth puncture to tranfer Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas sp, Streptococcus sp. P. multocida and Pasteurella multocida, (the root cause of pasteurellosis) to start a life threatening infection.

The cat will likely end up missing a few significant chunks of fur, because as most of us know, the last thing ya want to do when you are within striking distance is tick off an Amazon. Not even a human can invade a 'Zon's personal space unwanted, not without receiving a painful & bloody momento.

Hard to say what will happen.

The cat is about 7 to 10 months old IMO. When my son said he wanted a rabbit i did lots of research on what to expect if you have a cat.
The only game a cat knows is Hunt. However if they're attacked & apparently domestic bunnies will run at cats - this freaks them out as this is not the 'strategy' & they run away. My personal experience was with barn cats & field bunnies - not the same scenario at all. I noticed the cat was somewhat intimidated. Maybe the owner is trying to set up a 'these birds aren't so much fun scenario?'
I watched the video carefully - the owner was there & the bird seemed not too concerned. the cat might actually learn to be pals as it is quite young.

I agree - as much as i love cats - and my old cat Vive was pretty good with Laker [small birds are a too enticing for a cat IMO] i never left him with her alone as he couldn't be trusted. Viv'e hunting equipment was in good condition - i wouldn't like to see those lovely animals rumble.

Again I just don't know

I agree. I don't think that's cute at all. That's just asking for something really bad to happen. What is that owner thinking?!

I saw the cat and bird, poor cat is in for a rude awakening if he tries to attack that bird LOL but yes, it is a huge concern. What concerned me a bit more is the PLASTIC that is wrapped around the birds cage. It looked way too flimsy to be plexiglass. In fact if you look closely the plastic looks allready torn up at the top edge(middle of the side of cage). Is that not a MAJOR hazard for any kind of bird but especially for a bird type known to chew? That video is definately disturbeing.

I can't look either. Cats and Birds together is a HUGE pet peeve of mine!

I'm sure I have ranted about it once or twice before, so I'll spare everyone!

Ummm yea...YIKES! Speaking from someone who lost their beloved fid from another pet attacking it, I don't think that's cute what so ever.
