About the voting for Max.....

Since this was the section that the thread was originally in, I've decided to post this here.

Lynda & any others involved with trying to help Max the Pi:

Since you notified this forum community of Max's plight & your endevours to win the contest & that cage, I & my family voted for her. During that time, I've been quite vocal in my opinion of the obvious incidents of cheating committed by other entrants.

Upon visiting the Birdchannel site on Jan. 1, I discovered those in charge had changed the voter eligability - stating all voters must now be members of the site.

Normally, my family & I would have no problems with joining & continuing to vote.....
However, after discussing these changes with them, we have all agreed we cannot in clear concience suppport any contest that changes it's rules in the middle of a competition.
To be truly fair, the present contest should have been cancelled and another one started stating the new rules.

We fully understand you are in absolutely no way responsible for the changes that have been made, nor do you have any influence on those in charge.
I just wanted you to know why we were no longer voting.

I think we all agree there is some kind of cheating going on. The lovebirds are now over 1000 votes ahead of Max- No Way! I noticed this type of thing also happening in a national sponsored dog contest that I entered Annie in. Within 3 days, one of the dogs had over 6,000 votes. Every other dog had less than 200 votes. The little doggie was cute but not THAT cute-Annie was listed as 3rd at that point with 162 votes. There were about 300 dogs in the running. I don't need a year's worth of dog food that bad to so obviously cheat! Kind of like Congressional District-13 in FL, kind of makes you wonder if there were thousands of overvotes or undervotes? Hard to tell when you vote electronically, isn't it?

Whoa -- I did NOT notice that on the site. I'm very disappointed in the rule change. That's like saying that the electoral college no longer counts and the US is going to use the popular vote mid-way through the election countdown.

What a shame. Something as innocent as a bird cage giveaway is now almost mired in conspiracy :(

I agree with you Buteo and understand why you didn't join. In fact I am not promoting the contest anymore or asking people to register. It is not right.
If the lovebirds are cheating and get caught Max will win the cage.....If not no one can say we didn't try. I appreciate everyone voting like they did.

Bird Paradise will donate a cage to Max. Does Max have a special color choice? Ask her what color and what size cage she would like and it is hers!

Kathy, you ROCK!! I decided not to participate in the voting either, once I found out what kind of personal information they wanted to collect before you could vote.

I'm so happy that Max is going to get a new cage!!
