It's all they had. I can not find regular old cookware that is not non-stick anywhere. All out pans our (or should I say, the roommates). Every time we cook we shut Jazzy in our room and keep all doors (w/ screens) and windows wide open. That's all I can do until we get out own place with no roommates and can find our own cookware that is not non-stick. *sigh* |

Oh I know a DYH that would love that. I boarded her for about four months.
In the morning the bird would say, "You want some corn bread?" Of course I dropped everything to get the bird her corn bread. lol Her owner still laughs on that to this day. The other thing was the bird singing, "You want some corn bread?" to the tune of "You Are My Sunshine." Since that one time she never sang it again but she sure had me hopping. Has anyone tired those mixes that are on the market now? Just curious. Alice |

I use glass cookware for everything (not that some absent minded blonde has been known to put metal in the microwave). Have a gas stove and oven -- never any problems with glass pots and pans (have cake and loaf pans, no muffins)

Here in Canada you can sometimes find cookware at your larger supermarkets. But the 'professional' quality stuff we just got is pretty nice. Not cheap but not a bank breaker - $7Cdn for one.
I use a lot of Corning ware & Pyrex - the only worry is placing the hot glass on a wet surface, fresh from the oven - did that once & cracked the plate in half. I cook a lot of pies & cakes in my glass 'pie' plate - Loaf cakes baked in a pie plate take almost half the time they would if they were cooked in a loaf pan - 40 min vs 1 1/4 hrs (& that's a moist oven - good idea to cook with a pan of water in the oven if it's for a long time [longer times usually mean lower temps like 325 -350] or you're worried about it getting too dry). I use a lot of Spelt Four - low glutton - & it's very dry - like Oats. Last edited by homebird; 01-10-2007 at 03:56 PM. |
