Playgyms

I have two - soon to be three - smaller birds. One is a parrotlet and one is a cockatiel. The new one is a cockatiel as well.

I've been looking for a playgym for my birds but I haven't been able to locate one. I ended up looking on the Drs. Foster and Smith website and I found one that I think is decent but I wasn't sure.

It'd probably end up being for all the birds. They're not out at the same time nor do they live together.

As far as I know, they're reputable, right? I've never ordered from them but I've heard of people buying from them with no problems.

I'm probably interested in one of these ones, but I haven't really looked on the site very much for other ones that would be good for the birds. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...&N=2003+113185

Thanks in advance. =)

I have four gyms for Chipper. Sometimes, I put two next to each other when we watch TV. Chipper is tiny, so we set her gyms up on the coffee table to be with us. I bought three gyms at Petco and Petsmart and made one from Tinkertoys! That is the 2nd photo. The one with Chipper in the swing is one gym that I expanded myself to make taller and told toys and a swing.

I've ordereed from Dr. Foster and smith before. They are a well known company and I've never heard of any problems with them. If that is the playgym you want though - you can get it cheaper. Petsolutions has it - I've ordered from them before and liked them a lot. They usually have pretty competitive prices.

http://www.petsolutions.com/Playpens-C-66-C-.aspx link to gyms at petrsolutions - scroll down this page to see the gyms you're looking at.

Here's a real cheap one at bird.com (another company I like) Don't know how well built it is for the price though.

You can always get creative and make your own too! Check the DIY posts for ideas.

Thanks for that.

I was thinking about building my own but I'd rather buy one, just so I know it's safe for the birds. And this is easier for me anyways. =]

I've looked at Petsmart and Pet Supplies Plus and I've had no luck with finding anything. I'm thinking about ordering from the Pet Solutions site. I saw a couple of toys that I liked as well so I might add those to my order too.

Thanks again.

I recently received an amazing gym for xmas. It is from greyfeathertoys.com - they have various gyms, and some are kind of pricey - but I am EXTREMEMLY impressed with the design and safety of my gym. It's very well built and they fids LOVE it. So I recommend checking them out, they are known to supply only stainless steel parts for toys and gyms. And on my gym there are absolutely no screws, nuts, or bolts sticking out.

I also have the same gym as Sally has - the one in her first pic. They love this as well.

And we have a hanging gym and also a huge boing. You have small birds so finding a few gyms should be easy when considering space and money. My guys fly from gym to gym every night and I can put the gyms away when the birds go back in their cages.

And I agree that Drs. Foster and Smith is a reputable company.

Thanks for the help, guys.

svolk, I really like those. Unfortunately, they're way out of my price range. They are REALLY nice.

I was buying bird food today and I noticed they had little wooden playgyms for small birds like parakeets. It was four bucks so I bought one for Tiki and she likes it a lot. It's nothing special but at least I can let her come out a little bit more when she's staying on that.

Sydney's "playground" is about 5' x 2 1/2'. His gym is on it, his pool, he has 4 ladders and a pile of toys. Oh ya, and a snack dish with Roundy Bush. This all sits against the easy chair and Sydney will wander over the playgrounf, us, the chair and ottoman..where ever he wants to go.

I've ordered many times from Fosters and Smith, and would recommend them. I order all my pellets from them since there are no pet stores locally at all. Have also ordered a bunch of toys from them.

When It comes to play gyms, I think you could probably do better elsewhere. I've never been real impressed with their selection of gyms. JMHO though.

If you do a search here on play gyms or play stands you'll get lots of ideas!
