Very Inquisitive Dog

I have wanted to post this for a while, and since there is another doggie related post, I finally did.
We have 4 dogs- 2 toy poodles and 2 boxers. The boxers are 8-9 mo puppies, and one, the girl, Macy, is rather interested in Harley. She will sit by her perch looking at her. I never leave the dogs and bird alone, so no worries. Harley did fly down once, and she followed her to me. Strange thing is, it is not like a preditory thing, more like a "I like you, you're a really interesting looking thing, and I find you very fun to watch". She sits and watches her, ears perked, happy looking.
After reading Missi's post about her IRN, I have been very careful. Just thought I would share. I am just happy that she has a healthy respect for her. It makes me feel a little better- although I have no intention on letting them get any closer that 3 feet

Always good to watch the interaction between different species closely! Kodi, an akita mix, has sniffed Charlies feathers up close.. now Charlie doesn't normally LIKE dogs, and the first two meetings, he didn't like Kodi... but he's grown to be okay with Kodi... so now it's other dogs he doesn't like! Of course, when I have Charlie out, I'm always with him, and within one foot of him... or rather should I say he's with ME!!!! Unless of course I get him to fly... but I always watch where the other animals are, and put them away for a few if I must.

With all my birds I have a cat. It is funny to watch him when I have a bird on me and he is also there. He has the respect for the birds and wouldn't do anything to harm any of them so it is possible for a dog and bird to be friends.

i have boxers too and they go up to the bird cage and put their noses against the wire so cookie comes to talk to them, neither the birds or dogs seem threatened by each other at all. its good for the pups and birds to get used to each other when they are still young too.

I have two French Bulldogs in the house with us and they have never really been too interested in the birds. Willis, the IRN doesn't like them and will try and bite their ears if they come and sit on my lap while he's on my shoulder. But even though the bullys have never acted like they'd take one of the birds out, it still scares me a bit. Dogs are dogs and there is just something there that I will never fully trust with them when it comes to the birds. That's just me though. The birds don't have free run of the house unless the dogs are in their kennels or locked on a floor of the house that the birds aren't on. But if we are all together it's not a huge deal. Just like with Monica and Charlie, the birds never go too far from me anyway!

Yes it is possible for birds & other animals can get along quite well...
As you've already mentioned you don't leave them unsupervised (a VERY wise thing that I'm sure others here will agree with).

ALWAYS watch the body language of both parties whenever possible.
Our Bouv is very good with our Pi. Now he seems to be very concerned with her whenever she gets loud or extremely active(flapping). I feel it's due to the fact that we all made it an issue with Max that he has to be very careful around her. "She's just a small bird Maxi and she's got a bad foot, so ya hav'ta be a very, very, very, good boy with her. Always gentle gentle."

They're friends now.
Max always looks for her whenever he's in the rec-room.....
and she likes watchin him clean up the fruit & veggies she drops.
I posted a recent thread with pics of the 2 of them - to see it, CLICK HERE.
