get a red belly!! i breed red bellies, one of my faves in the flock, right along with the meyers!! all of my breeder red bellies are semi tame, some are very tame, they are soooo sweet, LOVE attention, VERY playful, and they are QUIET, they wont make even a fraction of the noise a sun conure can make, and their noise level is much, much lower as well. sunnies are great birds, but oh my, their screeches!! red bellies stay sweet even as they mature sexually, they get very affectionate when they get hormonal, and as long as you have socialized them properly while they are young, you shouldnt really have too many biting probs, if at all :) they might nip sometimes, but hey, every bird does that. my babies always jump on strangers, they like anyone that even looks their way, LOL

Wish I was in such a position... A Hawkshead is one of my dream birds. Suns are nice, playful very active. So are Redbellies. Either would be a fine choice.... it's more a matter of which one seems more ready to bond to you two.

I personally think the Macaw is the prettiest of all birds. But a very nice mannered bird is a male electis who is also a great talker. This is a very calm natured bird and not hard to keep like a Macaw

Thank you everybody for your response. We went with the red bellied. We adopted her from a family that gave her NO ATTENTION, she had a nice cage but only 1 toy, she said she gave her paper strips sometimes to chew on. She is very quiet and talks up a storm, we brought her home, went right out and bought her some new toys and she is doing GREAT. Eating very well and from what I can tell is really adjusting to our home. She is full flight and got scared a couple times and starting flying around, we are taking her to the vet wed to have her checked out and her nails and wings clipped. We fell in love with the sun also but she was just sooooo loud and was screaming the whole time we were there, and the red bellied was just so sweet and almost had that look like pick me pick me. Her name was pai pai so thats what we are keeping she already knows it. I will post pics soon, she is so cute. Thanks for the help.
