so block her. i'm not saying i don't like hybrids or that i do or anything, i like all birds, and most animals! (except for the creepy crawlies)

just that **** like that needs to stay in the PM's.

i've learnt recently that if you don't like someone it's best to say absolutely nothing at all to the person or about the person. that way if they say something about you, you are always on top bcoz you don't encourage it and you stay the better person.

loving your birdds and having your birds love you is the best way to win :)

don't stress i think you're cool, you have the same name as me :) i'm not trying to put ypou sown, just gve some sound (if tipsy) advice

if you want to make sure the birds are getting what you want them to get.. ask for the rescues wish list. Plenty of rescues can use avairies, trucks for picking up birds, things like this YOU BUY It and give it. There are plenty of rescues and sanuaries. Thank you for thinking of our feathered friends..

Mentioned numerously one great thing to do is foster a parrot. Sneding money monthly or yearly to pay for food toys etc etc.

I know there is a type of cockatoo in tthe wild that is very low in numbers i herd something like low thousands or less, i think you should look into that and see what you could do to help.

Another thing is you could find someone who could devote almost all there time and run your own parrot rescue. I know lots of people who would open or run one in a heartbeat if the oppurtuntiy came around.

Just look around i think you've got a right idea with your money just need to decided what you would be most happy with.

I think it's wonderful what you're contemplating. You should get ahold of a reputable bird rescue, like the one mentioned and sit down with them and a lawyer to determine the best course for your donations, have it spelled out as to what you want done with it. Keep in mind though, that a lot of times what 'doesn't go to the parrots', really does go towards their upkeep. In example; electricity, water, sustenance, vets.. even a certain amount of advertising and educational materials are all necessary.

If you want to help an endangered bird, move past the pet trade birds - even Hyacinths are solidly in many breeding programs. Someone mentioned the Spix and Glaucous - look them up, research them; we're losing these birds and without a strong amount of donated money, we'll end up losing them.

But, before you do anything concrete ...talk to an attorney about this. Keep yourself and whomever you donate to protected.

Kelly, please report this to the moderators of the forum. If you are indeed being attacked in PM's, we need to evaluate the situation. I am sorry you are being attacked but please continue to use a respectful posting manner while on the board. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I definately will consider the Gabriel Foundation. My only worry is that the money wont go to the parrots. That why I didnt want to donate to rescues.

Yeah a LOT of fine tuning is in order. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.

Its sad what the world has come to.

As The Gabriel Foundation has been mentioned several times, I would like to say that they are one of the best sanctuaries. I volunteer there twice a week. I know the people, I know the diet, I know the care these birds get. I also know that ALL money donated to TGF goes directly to the care of the birds. It may be for maintaining outdoor flights, medical, food, education, basically all monies recieved, stay within the foundation for the care of the birds. They currently have between 450 - 500 birds. Money is always needed and welcome, as they are a non-profit.

Also, I think it's important to mention that TGF does not breed birds. They rescue, they rehab, & they adopt out. Thier adoption process is long, and involved. They will not adopt out a bird to just anyone. Not all the birds are available for adoption due to medical or other issues, and these birds will have a forever home at the Foundation.

If you would like to read up on TGF thier website is: The Gabriel Foundation®

Also here are some pics of some of the outdoor flights and birds there:
