poor Benji

He had a bad day and Papa didn't even know. He got hurt today. Upper beak got tagged pretty good. I don't know when or how and that plexes me pretty good. I know it wasn't Sophie. I don't believe Cricket could do it. Zoey will if given the chance but I can't see when that could have happened. Below is a pic of the injury. Followed by some simple cute photos. He doesn't seem any worse for the wear. He is eating fine and being himself. Although he did really seem to enjoy me fussing over him tonight. Bless his heart!!!

Maybe the close up of it just makes it look worse that it really is. I have a questionable first-aid idea. I don't know if it's toxic to birds... but maybe some "liquid band-aide" applied to the puncture in the top of the beak to prevent infection?

Again.. no guarantees that, that idea is a good idea. Just looks really bad from the close-up pics.

it's definitely a bite. Zoey is very aggressive toward the other birds, I just can't figure out how and when it happened!! He seems fine. Eating as usual, same sounds as usual too. I'm keeping a close eye on him of course.

It looks to me like a larger bird got a hold of his beak and bit down--I assume he is doing better now?

Poor Benji....I have to tell you Jim, it looks just like Zoe's did when she got in her little scuffle with Zazu. Only difference is hers was more to the side and affected where her beak opened. You may want an x-ray to make sure there is no damage inside that you cant see like a crack or a split. Looks like there will be a good bruise too. I took Zoe in to the vet and her beak had no other damage then the split that wanted to bleed every time she opened her poor mouth. I felt better after I had her checked out though.
Cricket sure looks like he is trying to make it all better though .
Give Benji our love...sure hope he gets better soon.
