None of my friends would ever be able to stop me from being a budgie person. I'm totally in love with their species. If you feel that way about Lovies then it shouldn't matter what others think.

nobody has really given me any hell but if they mentioned cats I'd tell them I was polite enough to hold my thoughts on their cats............

Lol me too...i dont like to think i could purposely kill an animal but the cats near me are just shockers and make me come close to wanting too. My neighbours cant say anything about me having a noisy bird cos on one side they have little dogs that bark and yap all day, the otherside they have cats that fight at night all the time and little kids that scream and cry so if they even try i have so much to throw back at them

i really dont give a crap what others think about us having so many birds. the people who are too ignorant to even give them a chance...well,t hey are not welcome here :) the people who are willing to at least give the birds a chance, they come over, watch us play with the birds and the babies, then they eventually get over their fear of being bitten or pooped on, and they really do learn to enjoy the birds!! i love teaching people that birds are loving and interactive, and i love seeing that "light turn on" in their heads when they learn that birds arent meant to just sit in a cage and look pretty!!

lol yeah i had a friend who was a bit afraid of birds but really wanted to be able to handle them. Got my tiel out for her (who isnt exactly the calmest bird) and she loved him, even when he bit her it wasnt what she expected, she must have expected like a snake bite or something cos she was like "oh, was that it?" of course he isnt really vicious so wasnt anywhere near as bad some birds but for her that was good.

If you want a bird... get a bird! I say whatever you and your family decides is up to you as long as you're a responsible pet owner.

My family and friends learned long ago that when I make up my mind to have another "child", I'm going to do it. I've always been an animal lover and will be until the day I die.

Put it this way, my sister and Mom now tell when they die they want to be reincarnated as one of my animals....so there ya' go.

Life is too short! Enjoy them.. I believe they teach us as much as we teach them and truly enrich our lives.

I usually don't care what other people think, either. Go get your lovebird. You will fall in love fast!
mY first bird was a cockatiel that my son talked me into getting. His friends' Mom worked at the birdstore. She has 8 big birds herself and I always thought she was nuts for having a house full of birds.
Anyway, the cockatiel was great. Sadly she flew away last year.
Then we got a Greencheek. I had never even heard of them before...... Well, you can't have just one so now we have two wonderful GCCs that i am absolutely crazy about.
As for guineapigs and hamsters, we had all that , too and they stink. Hamsters sleep all day.
Cats aren't bad but I prefer BIRDS
