had a blast At the bird fair

at the bird fair in Pleasanton California today. Lots of Budgies, Tiels, Plets, and other small birds for sale. A couple Toos where hanging out at one vender and saw two Ekkies as well.
The place was birdy toy heaven!!! I am so glad I didn't bring much money with me. So all I bought this time was a little food. A bag of dried pineapple and a bag of dried papaya.
I also got this herbal stuff for the birds to eat. Its called Herb Salad. It says "enable your bird's ability to self medicate" The only thing I see in it that some people may not like is spirolina. It has to be a trace amount in there as that stuff changes the color of everything its in if there is any real amount of it. Its basically a dry herb mix. I bought a sample pack to see if the fids like it or not. I put a small amount in my hand and both Zoey and Sophie tried it out. Benji, bless his heart, still won't eat out of my hand.

I can hardly wait till next Sunday when we go to the one in San Jose!!!

I'm glad you had fun! I can't wait to go next weekend! Luckily Evan goes with me so my spending doesn't get out of hand, lol. I could go broke buying new stuff for them!

Puleez! When I go to these fairs as a vendor, I want to buy sooo much. So I try to make a list of what I NEED, and try not to splurge on impulse buys. I can do trade outs with most of the toy vendors, which is helpful but cuts into profits, lol. I always buy a bunch of raffle tickets-last time I came home with enough food and pellets and millet to last 5 months! Plus a bunch of toys for my tiels and some big toys that I donated to the rescue.

I went to my very 1st bird fair yesterday! It was fun! Lots of great toys. There weren't a whole lot of birds there. It was kind of a small fair. I did get to see a galah, which was kind of neat - I'd never seen one in person. I was kind of surprised at some of the prices on birds that I saw. Someone had normal green cheeks for $300 a piece! I did buy quite a few toys! ( we got our state tax refund on Sat.! so went and spent 1/2 of it Sun. on the fids! LOL) After the fair we drove around a bit before going home. (the fair was about an hour and a half away from our house) I spotted a Petco so went in. I about fell over when we walked thorugh the door! It was so HUGE compared to the little hole in the wall Petco's we have near our house! It was at least 3x the size of ours. The bird section was really great! Got several more toys and food there. At the end of the day - we spent way too much money!! But had such a great time that my daughter and I are going to save up for when the next fair happens!

Jim, my friend and I are meeting at the area where they sell the tickets (it's in doors, right before you go into the show...) so we're gonna meet at the opening and go...are you going to be there when it opens?

There's a bird fair coming up in March -- I'm hoping that I'll be able to make it. I'm thinking of going w/ only a small amount of ca$h on hand ;0
