tile on cage bottom?

Hatchet (our U2) has decided that she doesn't want anything in the bottom of her cage. The cage is huge, 5ft tall 4ft across 3ft deep. We have used shredded bedding (bird safe of'course) and tried news papers. As soon as her cage is changed she starts shoving it all out, every bit of it. It is a huge mess to then try and change/scrub down the bottom of her cage each day (it is a flat metal tray). I was thinking about putting down tile in the bottom that could be wiped up easily. I am afraid she would tear out vinyl tile. The ceramic I could take out the piece/s that need cleaning and scrub them down. Let me know what you all think about this or ever tried something like this.

My SC2 Maxine did the same thing. Must be a 'too thing. I ended up putting the grate back in her cage and putting newspaper ON the grate and also on the tray underneath. She doesn't bother too much with the paper now, although she still shoves it around a bit. At least I don't have to scrub the tray every day now, just change the paper and wipe down the grate. It took her a little while to get used to having the grate back in her cage but she's okay with it now. The 2nd pic shows Maxine playing just after I changed her paper and the 1st pic is about 1 hour later!

Ginger throws and shreds hers all the time, I gave up and leave the bottom rack in and lay more paper on top of it. She then shreds that and most of the paper down in the tray stays put LOL!

Tile huh...that might be a good idea if you have a grate inbetween the tile and the bird...good idea easier to just take a wet towel and wipe up the poop...

We don't have a grate that goes in the bottom, just the huge metal tray. I am going to look tonight and see what I can find in tile. I'm thinking that if I get a few extra pieces I will be able to take the dirty ones out at night to beach them and replace with the extra ones while they are drying over night.

Are tiles glazed or anything? Just wondering, because if they are you might want to be careful in case she decides to chew on them. Sounds like a great idea to prevent the shredder mess, lol.
