I want to clarify something about the suns being loud. My sun was never loud in the way my ekkie or my grey could be loud. Whn my ekkie goes to screaming, you can hear it outside my brick house. You could never hear my Sun outside unless he was hanging out by a window. But that scream would burst your ear drums in a heart beat if he was close to your head. It's this high pitched scream. And they do it when they're happy, when they're upset, when they're saying hi, or any other time they feel like it.

That being said, my sun conure was a perfect little angel, and I would buy another in a heartbeat if it wouldn't be unfair to him/her and my ekkie. My ekkie has a problem with small birds due to a neurotic quaker we fostered once, and they could never be out at the same time. . .and my ekkie is never in her cage when I am home unless she's hungry--couldn't possibly cut back on her Mama time.

I love the suns. Mine made all sorts of coos and phone noises. She was really good at imitating the oven timer and microwave bell, too.

True. You could hear the sun in any room of my house. I just never penetrated the outer walls like the bigger birds.

And I wasn't downplaying that shriek, either. That thing is brutal. Your ear will ring for a while if they choose to sound off near you!

I have a green checked conure. I got her when she was 9 weeks old..and she is the best...like having a puppy dog..dances/sings, plays and friendly with everyone..She only bites if you put food in your mouth and she wants some...Purchase a little one and start young. If I was going to get another bird I would pick another conure.

i must have gotten the pre-programmed bity one then LOL - i got valo when he was 12 weeks old, but i never was able to socialize him to the extent i wanted to as i live alone and don't have visitors that often.... he's sweet as hell with me, but if he doesn't approve of the visitor he'll show it

can we see some pics of your little one? (love gcc photos - i'm biased )

A green cheek conure is a great pet for all the mentioned reasons.
But for any bird, my best advice is get a hand-fed bird pretty young and will grow up loving you.
