Question Is this vaporizer ok to use?

It's winter, well winter for Southern California, and I have been fighting a major sinus infection.

I have the following vaporizer Store and in the past (before getting Indy) used it along with putting medicine in the cup. I know that the medicine is dangerous to Indy, and even though I could clean the one I have, it makes me nervous if any medicine got inside the vaporizer and it doesn't get thoroughly cleaned out.

Because of this I am thinking of getting a brand new one - the same kind. My question - is the vaporizer safe to use around Indy, of course without using any medicine. I should note that I do live in a studio apartment so we are basically in the same room. I would be running it mainly at nighttime not so much during the day.

Thanks...

A vaporizer would actually benefit your bird. Just make sure to keep it clean as any bacteria that builds up can harm both your bird AND your sinus. Im right there with you an that BTW. Clean it regularly with bleach and of course - rinse over and over - and no medicine which your already aware of. I run a cool mist vaporizer in my bird room alll winter.

OK... this may be obvious but how does a vaporizer benefit a bird? Feathers? Respiratory System?

Can anyone shed some light on why our birds would benefit from a steam vaporizer?

Respiratory. Humid conditions are beneficial to birds and vaporizers and humidifiers keep fresh air circulating.

Birds can get just as dry and itchy as humans however in many cases the bird(s) may pluck because of it. Many people will mist their birds more often during the winter months because of that horrible feeling that we have. Adding humidity to the room is good for everyone as long as the humidifier is very clean and no spores are allowed to enter the air possibly giving way to lung/air sac infections.

You are making a great decision to add one to your home. We have 2 going though we don't have them going in the living room where our birds are and we are considering buying a whole house one next year because of our electric heat. Everyone is dry and itchy!
