3 females & 1 male in one cage, If they get along will they still breed?

If you have 3 birds that get along, 2 females and 1 male in one cage can they still breed if breeding boxes are provided? Or are you asking for problems? If any of you have any insight about this subject I would really appreciate your input.

By the way the 3 birds are Sun Conures. Thanks for your input.

I think that the females may fight. I tried keeping 2 pairs of cockatiels in a big cage, with 2 seperate nest boxes, and the girls went to battle, and they were loving sisters. I think in your case, the third wheel is going to get picked on, but maybe someone with sun experience will come along and have a different answer for you. I say don't do it

With Suns as soon as two of the three pair the other guy/girl is in for big trouble esp if you put a nest box in. They can fight enough to really hurt or kill when protecting the nest. It is never wise to keep any other in with a breeding pair. You may have problems anyway even without the box as they reach sexual maturity. There are very few Parrot species that will enjoy living comunally and even then only if there is enough room such as a large Avairy.

Thank both of you for your input, They are not in one cage together right now. But they get along very well and we were just weighing our options. We had Max first and just adpoted the other two. They other two are like peanut butter and jelly, where ever one is the other is right beside him/her. All three seem to get along and preen each other and sungle up. One is a male and the other two are females.

Anybody elses thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Its funny I cant tell the difference between Max and the other female except with the way they act, If I am still not sure, then I do the dog test because Max hates the dog and the other female likes the dog. The male I can tell the difference, no problem.

I also need help with names for the new ones, any ideas?

Our two new (un named suns ) helping themselfs to my french frys Good thing I didnt put the salt on them yet, and Max in a bowl of nuts.

Thats good, Daisy and Susan... but one is a male and the other a female... Ummm?? I have thought of Sunny and Sher, Hansel and Grettle.. but my husband doesnt like either of those. The male jumps, he will jump off his cage if you are near and jump onto you. Might call him Jumper?

How about Bonnie and Clyde. I have 3 female and one male teil in one cage and they don't fight. The one male has a great time with his harem but so far no eggs have appeared. I also have a male and a female teil in another cage and they don't mate even though they seem quite fond of each other. I tried putting my female too in with my male too in a big new cage and she attacked him, so they have to be in separate cages.

I wanted to name them Bonnie and Clyde and my husband veto-d it because they were gansters. But I think the male might should be named after a ganster because everytime the 3 birds are playing and I take Max away ( the other female ) the male will bite me.

Thanks for the insight that they might get along together, mating is really not a big deal at all, but getting along is very important. We did a test and put all 3 birds in Gilligans huge Macaw size cage and they got along great (Gilligan was on his play stand ). They get along outside playing on the sofa or our shoulder, so we figured Gilligans cage was neutral ground to see how they did for a test.

Even the female has been preening Max so I am not sure yet. Does anyone know what they are doing in this picture? Are they kissing? There is no food involved so they are not sharing food. They are not screaming either.
