Help...birds on craigslist

Maybe I am being overly sensitive, but these birds cant be happy. I cant take these birds in. Is there anything I can do or does anyone live in Phoenix, AZ have an idea? I wonder if they are hungry, as the owner says that he cant afford to feed them.

5 cockatiels to good home

THanks for any advice.

Oh, Lord. That cage is NOT big enough for 5 tiels.

I wish I could help. Is there a rescue out there?

Wow, that cage isn't big enough to house 1 cockatiel, let alone 5!
I'm really not sure there is anything you can do other than just hope they end up in a good home where someone will give them the care they need.

P.S. This is exactly why people need to stop breeding their birds for the fun of it. You get birds like these that end up in situations and need new homes much more badly than those 5 baby birds your neighbor down the street just had and are just adding to the problem

And now I stop ranting.... Sorry. It's not directed at anyone, I just needed to get it off my chest.

Don't worry. A lot of us agree with you. Except for our vos ekkie (my dream bird and SO hard to find) all of our birds have been rehomes and rescues. I'm not against buying from breeders. But I am against allowing your birds to mate if you have no idea what you're doing or haven't considered the long-term effects.

My budgie has a bigger cage than that, and there's only one of him, and he's the smallest budgie ever. Sometimes I have trouble spotting him.

I wish I could help, we are too far away and already have 5 birds. 4 of them were rescue birds. The last was a mini hans macaw and she was in a cage (a plexi glass one) that was 18 x 18 x 24 and included 1 toy. Our Suns, not Max, our pair of suns came in a cage that was 18 x 18x 32 for 2 birds. Those size cages are great travel cages, but not suitable to live in. That would be like us living in a yard shed. Last weekend we had to buy 3 new cages and 2 more play stands. They have to take turns with the play stands because we just don't have room for anymore cages or stands. LOL.

I agree people should do their research before getting a bird as a pet, it is not a FISH, that you just watch.

Hopefully they will go to a good home or homes.

I need to learn to stop clicking on links in posts like these. I know I'm not going to like what I see, but I click anyway and then get really upset.

I couldn't be much farther from Phoenix if I tried, so I can't be of any personal help. I found a few Phoenix/Mesa organizations that might be able to help or point this guy towards some help...

The Oasis Sanctuary, LTD in Phoenix
Arizona Exotic Bird Rescue in Mesa

Maybe they could try the small bird foster resources at Parrot Foster Homes Hookbills for Phoenix/Mesa? Sorry to be a judgmental witch, but I'm guessing that someone who stuffs five souls into a tiny cage probably couldn't be arsed to do that, right? Sorry --- Things like this make me more misanthropic than usual, which is quite a task.
