Kitchen Sink, first attempt, any advice?

Allright people, I'm makeing my first attempt at the kitchen sink recipe. Any tips? I'm useing this recipe in a round about way lol

Soak a bag of 16 bean soup mix overnight OR 1/2 cup each of 5 or 6 different types of beans...lentil, split or whole yellow or green beans, garbanzos ( a huge favorite here) hominy, navy, pink beans, let your imagination be your guide. Put these on to boil with PLENTY of water covering them along with a cup of natural brown rice ( I use River Brand). Let this boil gently for about 1/2 hour..longer is okay if your fildren like their beans really mushy...it is up to you. Now get the largest pan you can find....now get another one. drain the rice/bean mix and add...... 1 bag of frozen peas, 1 bag of broccoli florets, one bag carrots, corn, green beans. Also add two boxes of a favorite chopped green..you can also omit the broccoli here in favor of frozen chopped. Greens include mustard, spinach, kale, etc.
Hot peppers, if available can be added now- about a pound will do. You can chop them if you want or leave them whole depending on how big the fid is you are feeding. Dont forget to add a bag or two of wild blueberries, or cranberries, or BOTH. I freeze in two day portions- usually 4 cups worth to be shared between my 4 birds- 1 large, 1 medium and 2 small. This is in addition to the seeds/pellet mix they get on a daily basis, and the extra nuts for the large macaw.

Here is what I'm putting in. I've got the beans soaking now, will start the cooking first thing in the morning

Pinto Beans, Lentils, Pink beans, Garbanzos, Baby Lima, Navy Beans,Split Green peas.
Brown rice and natural wheat pasta.
1 bag frozen mixed veggies-Peas, carrots, corn, green beans.
2 box's frozen spinich
1 each Green, red and orange Bell peppers
2-3 jalepeno peppers
2 Yellow Squash
1 large sweet potato
2 apples(minus core/seeds)
2 oranges
Cinnamon
mabey some crushed dried red pepper

What do you guys think? Will they like it, I dunno lol, they love fresh food as a rule but I've never made anything with such a variety. I'm also gonna make birdy bread while I'm working on the Kitchen sink recipe. Useing a Jiff cornbread base and no idea what else I'll put in it lol. Any tips or ideas are welcome. Am I putting in too much???? YIKES lol thats alot of food.

I made up something very similar minus the fruit not too long ago, and frozen it in bunches. My birds all loved it, but I found my smaller birds loved everything but the peas. go figure? They would leave the peas and a little pasta at the bottom of the bowl, so I would give it to my bigger birds, and it never went to waste. Let us know what they think.

Hi,

I try to use a couple diff types of greens (my preferences are collards, dandellion, kale or brocolli) and alternate week to week. IF I think the "fildren" will toss it out of their cage---I chop it in the food processor and mix it in. I also do the same thing with carrots---chop them up and mix them in.

I would recommend skipping the lima beans--see below---

http://www.iit.edu/~beans/lima.html

“Lima beans contain a compound known as cyanogens, from which the poison cyanide is derived. The U.S. and many other countries restrict the cultivation of limas to only those with very low levels of this compound.
Excessive ingestion of the lima bean has been known to promote goiter. Rinsing completely when preparing has shown good results in lowering the levels of compounds in the bean that promote this condition.”

I make the beans/rice/lentils/pasta/peppers as a base.... then I add the other veggies/fruits to that freshly as I feed. I find it keeps better that way. IE - freeze base in 2-4 day portions.... then take base and add fruits/veggies to it for that week. That way it is always a little bit different.
