Totally Disgusting Experiance

I went to go look at 2 bird cages today: a 'macaw' sized one for Harley and hopefully one for an ekkie. Well, it was the most scarry, disgusting place ever! The cages were nasty, bars were bent and some would need to be re-welded. In the one I was looking at for an ekkie, the bowls were a foot off the floor, not the cage floor, the FLOOR! The 'play top' I had asked about was nothing more than 2 bars sticking up. I'm not kidding you, it was NASTY!

Not to mention the house, which I won't go into detail about... It really just pissed me off though that we had to drive almost a HOUR to look at these cages. The seller(s) weren't even honest about the sizes. I'm sorry if this is a pointless post, but I just had to vent. It totally ruined most of my day that I could have been using to do work that I would have to do tomorrow so I could have more time at the bird fair.

that does sound like a bad experience. Just before I brought Sophie home I went and picked up a cage.................... would have been a nice one too.......... had there not been a half inch of rust on it!!

There was an ad on our craigslist for a macaw size cage. It had a picture so I clicked on the ad to look at it. It looked like a medium sized dog crate. Actually - I don't even know if my lab mix would have fit in it!

Dominique go to the bird fair! They had macaw sized cages for $249. I paid $170 for Scarlett's new cage. Sorry those cages were so bad.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know how excited you were to get new cages. I agree with Tiff, go to a bird fair!

I went to the Bird Fair today! I loved this one cage that would have been perfect for an ekkie, but someone had already bought it. Oh well, I got to see and hold some greys and buy a bunch of bird making kits!

I lucked out w/used cages as one was sold to me by someone who works for the same co as I do. The other was owned by the "boss of a friend"---so it also worked out.

I generally ask them to email me a picture---

Keep looking I think they are available.

I just recently bought a cage... people have had it for 6 months.... it was bran new and still in box... so I think I was pretty lucky!

There's a macaw cage here for sale (if it hasn't sold already)... pretty nice size and good price too... hardly used as well...

Sometimes it's just asking around or just keeping an eye out...
