2 stuffed Galahs on ebay.com.au

I just looked around on ebay, as I do from time to time looking for a bargain bird cage for Bo my galah and saw with horror 2 galahs. They were supposedly a male and female pair that had been family pets for 8 years and died during or just after a storm. Sounds a bit suss to me But anyway I can understand stuffing a family treasured pet, I would not do it, I like to bury them in my yard under a tree, but some may need to do this so that their loved one is still with them-sort of :aiwebs_01 . what I cannot understand is how could you auction of these loved ones. I could not do that, how could you allow someone else to just buy it off you. It would have been a family heirloom for me anyway.

Just had to tell you guys.

I saw that , Tracey...really creeped me out! I love my birds but I could never have them stuffed and put on display like that, let alone sell them. Taxidermy as a whole creeps me out. :icon_evil:

I am a huge fan of e-bay and this is the one thing that makes me angry............however, let's remember it is the shell of what the bird was. The spirit of the bird is flying high and free.

yes it a shame. i find it sick that ebay wont allow live animals to be sold but allow dead ones to be sold. go figure. :eusa_naug

Actually, they will allow for live fish to be sold on Ebay as long as the shipping is correct and it's not disobeying the rules, from my understanding, however they forbid any other live animals from being sold. I think it is rather smart that they do not allow any other live animals from being sold as many people just don't understand what it is like to care for something such as a bird and might think it's a great idea because they think birds are neat so they'd go ahead and bid on one. It's one thing when it is alive, but it's something else when it's taxedermy...

I agree it is not a very nice thing. I used to have a friend whose father was a taxidermist. He to refused to do pets as it was too hard seeing the owners emotions while you were in the process. He mainly did hunted animals (wrong anyway). Has anyone ever been into a shed where they make and store the animals. It has the worst smell.

I love my animals, and I have 2 staffy's buried under a tree in my yard. Each dog has a pretty ground cover growing over it and I put a windchime over them, hanging from the leopard tree. I intend to buy a park bench seat and put a little plaque on it saying this is Sensei and Rana's place, so when I sit there to watch the kids in the pool, I can be with them (especially my boy Sensei). What I found offensive was both birds died at the same time???? And now they don't want them anymore, I think it sounds suspicious to me. My opinion, I am probably just a suspicious person.

It seems the idea of selling stuffed parrots is turning into a real item on e-bay. Found an African Gray on there last night :eusa_wall

I still think its gross, I'm with Tracey. My fids who have crossed the rainbow bridge are buried under hibiscus bushes, I have a feeling that their little spirits become part of the plant and make the blooms more beautiful.

Tiki this may sound weird to some anyway, but when my last cat died about 5 years ago (his name was Grasshopper) I will swear for some time I could feel him on my bed. For quite a few months, maybe a year. He loved to sleep on my bed and I swear when I moved I felt him on my bed, and actually looked to see him, but of course I could not see him. Since my male Staffy died about 3 1/2 years ago, at times I have felt him with me. Sounds silly I know, but I get comfort in it. Just thought I'd share that.
