Where to get macaw cage w double dividers

I seen someone post once a macaw cage that had a divider in the middle so the birds couldn't get within 3 inches of each other. I think it was a ebay cage. I can't seem to find it again. It was almost like 2 cages welded together with 3 inches in the middle or either double dividers. I can't remember.

Also anyone found a double macaw type cage with 5/8th or 3/4th inch bar spacing?

The reason I want a divider farther apart is I heard of a Ekkie that bit the beak off of a neighboring conure.

That was most likely me..... J&MExotics is the ebay store that sells the cage with "double" dividers. This is the only seller/location I've been able to find a double cage like this that has double deviders... I believe the bar spacing is 1" though. But if you notice in my pics, I have an African Grey on one side and a Sun Conure on the other.

You can see the two silver vertical handles in the center of the cage that are the handles you would use to pull out/remove the dividers themselves if you ever needed to make it just one big cage.

Here's a link to the auction of the identical cage I have pictured above and from the very eBay seller I got it from!

Parrot Bird Cages cage w/ slide out divider #0887 - eBay (item 270133452654 end time Mar-12-08 18:14:04 PDT)

Be careful if you go hunting for other cages. Nearly all the others I've found have only one divider, while this one has two.

How do you like it? Any problems? I just got to figure out if the 1" bar spacing will be too much for my cherry head conure.

I actually love it. When I first set it up and put it into the bird room I was shocked how large it was and how much room it took up. I also don't use the seed catcher around it as it would just stick out to far into the room and I didn't have that much extra room to work with it. It took me awhile to get used to this HUGE cage. It's like 6ft TALL!!! 6ft LONG!!!! 3ft WIDE!!!!

The bottom grates are removable too as well as the pans (of course). I put the entire thing on a big piece of MDF board so that I could easily roll it around (the room it's in has thick carpet) if/when I clean under or around it. Keeping that thought in mind. It's nice that I can actually remove the grates, pans and dividers and actually step thru either of the doors and wipe down the entire inside of the cage (we actually use a steam cleaner). Makes it a lot easier on my back.

My biggest advice to you is to make sure you have an electric screwdriver that is fully charged... :) That or plan on a lot longer build time. Plus an electric screw driver (not those flimsy hand held ones - those are a waste of money - get a 12V to 18V one that is basically a cordless drill) will torque in those screws so they won't wiggle loose over time and it'll make the cage sturdier. It's not complex to assemble, however the instructions suck, but if you think about it when you get it, you'll see it's farily self explanatory. Don't be put off by the "pallet" the 6 boxes will arrive on. There's really not that many. Really it's just that the pieces are "large". And you can easily unwrap the boxes from the pallet and bring them inside (cause it's cold outside this time of year).

NOTE: I have a Green Cheek Conure as well as my Sun. When they get too noisey and I need a break I put them both together in Autumn's (our Sun) half of the cage for them to play. We've done this for the past two years and it seems he's never even tried to poke his head out. Honestly it doesn't really look like he could (his head is fatter than 1in). As even tho the bar spacing is 1"... that's 1 inch on bar center and the bars itself are at least 1/8 inch thick (good luck to any bird that tries to bite thru them), so realistically it's only 7/8 in between bars.

I've heard a lot of horror "stories" about birds and cage bars, but my experience is that they tend to keep their heads inside the cage and "maybe" will reach out with a foot. Other's may have different experiences. I'm however going to go out on a limb here (and risk getting ridiculed by everyone for it) and say you should be fine with this cage.

OH, I almost forgot. If you get the cage and find out that the deviders (that have about a 2 1/2" gap between them) still are not far enough apart. A big old sheet of plexiglass (maybe cost $60 - or go buy a piece of wood paneling for $10) slipped in between them - there is a good 3/4" slot between the dividers made specifically for that purpose.

I've had the cage for over 2 years now and am about to purchase another for my Cockatoo (as I'm waiting on a tax refund).

Please when you get it... post pics.

Well, I will post it if I can talk my wife into getting it....

Thanks for all the info. I like what I hear. My cherry head has a larger head than a green check so I might give it a try. I will let you guys know.

that spacing is fine for conures. my sun has been trying out the cage, that is sitting here empty, waiting for my GW. yesterday when he went in there, i closed the door, he couldnt get out, nor get his head through, by a long shot.

I know someone who actually keeps a conure in a cage that has 1" bar spacing. While I personally think it's a little large for GCC, they haven't had any problems and they said there is no way it's head could fit through. Therefore, there should be an issue with your cherry head conure since they are bigger than a GCC.

I've looked around, and did find a few places a bit cheaper with the same cage.. Some on e-bay, I mainly look for the big words- FREE SHIPPING
eBay Store - CageMart: Stackable Cages, New Design Cages, Flight Cages
Double Macaw LC-GC36432 Bird Cage - FREE SHIPPING!

But, they are priced a bit higher-the shipping isn't TOTALLY free on them. I like the fact on the last one that, well, you can pick the color... I'm also unsure if that last one is a double divider or not.

For me it comes down to two things-where in the HECK is my refund check
what colors will make a female ekkie just POP out of her cage?

sorry, been 15 minutes..I'd like to see what brand it is, type and the like, for my own personal records ;) I'd like a double dividing cage too... The ones posted above are SINGLE dividers, Parrot Bird Cages cage w/ slide out divider #0887 - eBay (item 270133452654 end time Mar-12-08 18:14:04 PDT) is the double divider. So, sorry, I'm not a lot of help.

Either way, I'd like to know the brand name/number of it if anyone can help.
