January is Adopt-a-Rescued Bird Month

Although it should be every month. :(

Wow. How depressing to read through all the birds available for adoption on the petfinder classifieds. There is practically every species of bird up for adoption there - anyone looking to add a Major Mitchell Too? How awful. I am sending a prayer that they all get wonderful, knowledgeable homes.

Please, if you are considering adding a new addition of the feathered variety to your home, I hope you will consider one of these dear souls, up for adoption through no fault of their own. I simply cannot believe the number available. :( The homeless bird situation is increasing at an alarming rate!

I wish I could take in another rescue this month, but I just adopted Oscar a few months ago....maybe next January when he's better settled-in!

I can't wait till I move back to America in the next year or so! I will open my home to a few rescues, definitely. Can't do it now because we rent and only have a few months left on our lease, plus the problem of bringing birds into America. But I'll probably volunteer at a rescue and see who wants to come home with me! I can't wait to give a couple of rescue birds a forever home
