Question Is Silver Poplar safe?

I was at my parent this afternoon and the wind had blown some limbs out the silver poplar out in the pasture and I was just drooling because I though they would make some great destroyable sticks for the fids. Everything I have found online says they are pet safe but I know that sometimes the general sites aren't specific enough for birds. Anybody know if it is ok? Since it is a tree from the pasture I know there hasn't been any spraying or anything on or around it so I know that much is ok. I would really like to know because my fids would love to destroy the sticks if they can.

The silver poplar is a type of cotton wood. My dad, who is an arborist says they are not toxic to anything that he knows of.

Huntress - We must have been posting at the same time. I'm guessing by the list you gave that it would be safe for them. YAHOO!! It is a relatively soft wood but I think they will have fun tearing it to shreds!!
