Whats your thoughts on this? Bird Evictors

I remember reading a thread on various cities / buildings that are taking drastic measures to keep pigeon or wild parrots from nesting or hanging out in certain areas and ran across this link... Whats your take?

I can see where some places would want to use something like that.

Keev

For about 7 mos I worked for a co that moved their corp HQ to our area so they could be in the "countryside of PA"-----they built a huge facility w/2 lakes-----seems they didn't understand that it would attract geese----which was fine until they were expecting the Governor for the grand opening. They rented cannons and scared the living daylights out of them. Problem w/this is they'd laid eggs and had babies so they were possibly scaring the Momma's away from their nests.

When I complained I was told that it was "well within their legal rights"----

People just dont get it. The reason the animals are moving into the residential areas is often times because we've taken "their" land away from them by building houses, malls and shopping centers.

Think it was BOA that last year hired a company to gas the top of the bank to keep pigeons away during a parade..... and it rained..... dead birds.

I agree with Mary, humans have taken away their habitat so where else are they supposed to go? It's one of my greatest pleasures to look out my window and see the lorikeets and other birds enjoying themselves and who cares if my car gets pooped on once in awhile? It's no real big deal. I don't beleive this product is actually harmless to birds either. Wild birds are part of the natural environment, just leave them alone.

Yeah. I can't really see what the big deal is. I really don't understand the thing about wanting to get rid of the geese. I would think it would be a good thing to have a lake with water fowl in it...We have a lot of water around where I live and I hate when I look at it and it's empty of birds. A few years ago we had some teenager here who was going around and killing ducks with a golf club just for the fun of it. Luckily he was sent away to an institution or a special school for lunatics or something. It made me sick. Who would want to hurt a beautiful duck for no reason?
In my opinion there aren't enough wild animals around.

I, here in rural AZ ,am missing the roadrunners!
I haven't seen one in over a year here. I blame the new builders/contractors.
They don't think of the impact on the wildlife. (even though they say they do)
I'm disgusted with the impact, honestly!
