Breeders in Cyprus ???
OK, so having done a little (ok a lot of !!!) research I have decided on either a Meyers or a Red Bellied.
Now, I have sourced a Meyers at a local pet shop but it is already 1 year old. Apparently it is a hand rear but has been in the shop for 7 months already. It shows no signs of fear when viewed from outside the cage, just a mild curiosity that someone may be paying it a little attention (how sad is that), but I am concerned that it will find it difficult to integrate into home life and interact positively with people and other pets. Choices are limited here though (I live in Cyprus) and I feel I could give it a good home if it is a salvageable bird. What do people think ??? And does anyone know of any poicephalus breeders in Cyprus ??? HELP !!!! |

Honestly, I hate that pet stores sell birds, but I am 100% for buying them. Have they let you interact with the bird? 1 year is not too old and set in its ways to become a healthy addition. And, being in a pet store, you know he/she is used to other animals.
The biggest problem with birds from pet stores is disease (quick trip to the avian vet and a quarantine could fix that, though) and a higher price. But I'm all for giving the pet store guy a chance. The most important thing is to decide what fits best with you. He's not too far from a baby.
