Udo's Oil Blend

Has anyone ever heard of this and if so, have you used it?

I read about it on www.holisticbirds.com and have been doing a bit of research.

Ingredients:

flax oil
sunflower oil
sesame oil
medium chain triglycerides
rice germ
oat germ
bran oil
evening primrose oil
soy lecithin (GMO Free)
Tocotrienol.

this is the first I have heard of that. A couple weeks ago I picked up an herbal blend at a bird fair and it has gone over real well.

I give a teaspoon per day during the winter months to my son and daughter when their eczema acts up. Helps a lot. Never gave it to my bird though.

I haven't heard of that, but I've been coating soaked grains and beans and seeds with Red Palm Oil for about 3 weeks. It might be my imagination, but my Sennie looks shinier now than she did. My U2 is growing new feathers all over his body, but I don't know if it's the oil, or the showers he has been taking. He didn't shower or bathe before I got him 2 months ago.

I think the addition of oil does help. I was told to add it to foods that would readily soak it up...if you put it on something that "doesn't soak it up" they coat their beaks, preen their feathers and end up w/a coating on their feathers (which could cause the plucking/over-preening to get worse and not better.)

No doubt more frequent showering/bathing helps as well.

I might rethink the way I present it to them. I did see soaked/sprouted stuff as a suggesttion for how to serve the oil though. It said to add the oil and then leave it over night in the refrigerator. I haven't been doing that step, but I might start.
