trtldove, actually I think it's for the best. Felisha is just getting settled and adding another bird is going to get things in a turmoil for awhile. (I saw your other post last week that she's doing better).
I'd work with her and suggest maybe it'd be better when she is in a good routine and reliable. You never know with other people's birds what baggage you're getting with it and a new bird could take all your free time, then poor Felisha gets a major setback. imo It may be as simple as her sleeping schedule and the addition of Calciboost that's helping so much. It does take some weeks if not a couple of months for her body to adjust if she was deficient, which she must have been since she's been only eating seed. I'd probably go to twice a week now and once she's actually eating the pellets then you dont want to supplement any calcium any more since it'd be an overdose. I'd review that with her vet, too they may have other ideas (like to stay at a higher dose for some reason). |

We don't know what happened we weren't notified they just didn't tell us anything and then the phone was disconnected.
I Don't know what happened Cindy with Felisha she had one or two good days but now when I let her out she attacks everyone so I am having to only let her out when no one is around except me!! I do make sure she gets her out time everyday though. But was hoping to get her a buddy, thinking maybe she would like birds better than humans. Thanks for all your replies everyone! |

Well I'm a strong believer in a bird having a companion. But Lovebirds are hard to pair up especially a hen. I think she'll come around it's only a couple of weeks and she has alot to work on and learn. It could take months but she will. She has a long life ahead and will really appreciate whatever you can do to make sure she's healthy and happy. It may be better to forego any bird companions till she's more stable and you know what you "have". Like a calcium deficiency can be making her that agitated. It takes time and she'll be better equipted to accept another bird when she's feeling better.
I know you're not "writing her off" as just incouragable but alot of people do, and keep adding birds or thinking they'll "start over" or whatever.IME they just end up with seperate birds with different problems and not enough time or resources (like vet visits) for all of them. Especially the original one. |
