I thought I'd seen it all...(this will make you mad...)

Oh, this is going to make you mad, but since I'm mad you might as well be too...

One of my clients/friend does a lot of "rescue" type work. In most cases its really fairly decent situations and someone just in a bad state needing to rehome a good companion. But this week was different.

She got a call from a "lady" who immediately told her she had 45 min. to meet her at a specified location to pick up a GW macaw. If she wasn't there the bird would be left by the pay phone anyway. The town is more than an hour from where we are so she called a friend of hers in the area to get some help. They went to the location and sure enough found an abandoned GW macaw....with its beak super glued shut.

Fortunately an avian vet is in the area where this occurred and was able to dremel the beak to remove the glued areas. There was a little on the tongue which he felt would wear off quickly and there would be no long term problems. He also reported the event to the local authorities but the only info they've been able to track down at this point was that the original phone call was made from the pay phone where the bird was found.

The depths of the human species ability to harm never ceases to astound me.

That made me feel so sick to my stomach. That poor baby - never asked to be in the 'care' of humans and this iis what they do to him. I am so glad he is in the care of your friend now.

I still feel sick. I am glad that person who did that is nowhere near me, because I'd be on my way to jail for what I would do to that woman.

wow......i just dont understand how we get to the point where there is no respect for life and the living.....some of us would give our eye teeth jus to be able to care for a bird as such.......alarming!

That is very sad but at least the GW will survive.

Some of ya all may have seen a piece on T.V. once (maybe 60 minutes segment) where in China (I think it was) they were killing animals (dogs & cats) to make fur coats (probably still are). They showed a picture of some dirt-bag male human who had a dog on a leash and it was wagging it's tail really hard just wanting to play. The dirt-bag stuck a spike of some kind into the bare area around the dog's genitals so blood would not ruin the fur. The dog bled out and became a coat or part of a coat for some other scum bag that buys furs that come from animals killed for that reason. I will never forget that and if I ever go to China & could find that guy I believe I would become the "Bird Man Of Alcatraz" #2).....Also they showed a pen full of furry little cats all with terror in their eyes as each one was caught with a noose (one at a time while the others watched and cowered in the corner of the pen). The noose with the dangling kitten was thrown over a wood beam, I believe it was, to hang to death and then the next one was caught and so on and so on. I am burning up right now as I type this and really feel that I would be in prison if I could get my hands on those people too. :(

That is totally pathetic, it amazes me that "humans" can be this cruel. At least now she/he will be in a loving home and properly cared for.

I always wonder how people who can do things like this to animals treat thier children and other people, since there is obviously no respect for living beings, makes me sick to my stomache.

Tell your friend good luck with the baby and thank goodness she/he will be ok now.

What an awful experience for that poor baby, and yes, bless your friend for being such an angel.
Why would you super glue the beak shut? Too noisy; bites? I am so ashamed of some of our fellow humans, though they really don't deserve to be called human!
