How long do pellets last?

Hello!

Quick question for you all, how long do pellets last outside of there container, like sitting in the food dish? Do they go stale after a day or so?

I have finally got my Nanday off his all seed diet and he's eating zupreem fruit blend (with the macaw on the bag), the Zupreem Avian Entree Wild & Spicy Pellets (african grey on the bag). I give him one in the morning, and the other later in the day, 2-3 different veggies, a peace of fruit, etc, and a little seed before bed.

At the end of the day I toss whatever pellets he hasnt eaten, seems like I am wasting a fair bit though?

I wouldn't feel bad leaving the dish in there two or three days.As long as the humidity isn't high they won't spoil. The birdstore here sells Zupreeme in a bulk bin so it's exposed to air a long time and all their birds eat it.I buy mine in a sealed bag but since one bird likes green and yellow and the other likes red and orange I swap the dishes after one day and throw the left overs[not much] out after two days. The main thing is that they don't get wet.Once wet they will spoil more quickly.

Thanks!

He always seems to like the fresh ones right out of the bag, but I think its more because his favorite colours are there! He always eats the red and ornage ones first, wont touch green or purple, and the plain/yellow ones he'll eat if he has to, what a little bugger.

I think it depends on the pellets. For example, Harrison's should definitely be changed out every day. I use Harrison's and don't give them all at one time, I space them throughout the day. I would guess that Zupreem could be left longer, but it's just a guess. Is there any fine print on the back of the bag?

lol, thats funny! Mine changes which ones he likes best about every couple of weeks. I give him fresh in the morning and when I give him his dinner I put them in his cup on his playtop and throw the ones already up there away. So I guess they are out for 2 days and he seems to eat the ones in the playtop cup more.

I leave my pellet bowls untouched unless they are soiled and need to be tossed. Before I refill, I thoroughly clean all bowls.
(The remaining/stored food) I store about a gallon in the pantry closed and all else goes in the freezer. I refill the gallon in the pantry closed as needed. Their pellets remain fresh by applying all methods... That’s just in my experience and practices.

if you observe how much he's eating and only put about that much out, there wont be so much waste.
