acrylic carriers??

has anyone tried those acrylic carriers?? i wanna take sweetpea on outings, but i dont trust her with the harness, and even though shes clipped, she flies as if she wasnt clipped, so i was thinking about getting her one of those clear acrylic carriers that are specially made for birds. they even have a perch and food bowls fastened inside. in case you dont know what im talking about, they are something like this:

this is what i wanted. they come in diff sizes:

this is a simpler carrier....im not sure i like it all that much, but it looks stronger than the previous ones i listed....

Great idea! I have never actually had one, but from what I've heard, they are very good! I've really been wanting one of these for Ashling so that when I take her on outings, she can hop into it and grab some rest/ food/ water. I'd say definately get one. Have fun!

I have been looking around for carriers for my severe. I was told by a rep at a cage store that the acrylic ones can restrict air flow and possibly have some detrimental effects, esp. if you are in a warmer climate. I was looking at these FS ADVENTURE PACK BLUE and Poquito Avian Hotel by Avian Adventures - Travel cage, sleeping cage - FREE Shipping. Wondering if anyone has had any luck with either of these?

I have no experience with either type, but I remember reading somewhere that the Poquito Avian Hotel is really heavy. As such, it might not be appropriate for "outings", per se.

I just use a small budgie/cockatiel cage for going outside with my sun conure. You know, the ones they sell at pet stores that are actually way too small Mine is a pretty cheap-y cage, but since it's only for trips outside, it serves the purpose.

Obviously with a much larger bird you can't just stick them in a budgie cage since they could easily destroy the bars, but for something smaller they are convenient and cheap.
