I made a great toy, i don't have any pictures but I went to the dollar store and bought some beeds, felt and a mop head. I put beeds on the end of the mop head and tie felt to some of it and its a great little toy for a few bucks.

My macaw loves to "crack" open the plastic easter eggs so I took some pieces of wood and strung them on rope with easter eggs that I had drilled holes in placed between the pieces of wood and then put p-nuts or almonds or other little treats that she likes in them. I put one in her cage on the days I have to work and it seems to keep her busy for the day, along with her other toys. I can post pics of it this evening after I get home from work. The eggs are pretty light plastic so I wouldn't use them for just any bird, but she just likes to open them and inspect them. My CAG on the other hand would rather rip them to shreds so he doesn't get them because I am afraid he might try to eat the pieces. He gets other types of foraging toys made with coconut shells.
Your toys look great though!! There are times when I wish my birds where quite as big and have such destructive possibilities because the toys always have to have "larger" sizes and amounts of stuff and sometimes it can be hard to find enough to fill there curiosity and needs. I am, however, getting to be quite inventive and I'm sure you will too!! Keep up the good work!! |
