Outdoor Aviary Question

Hi Fellow Feather Fanatics,
My name is Phil and I just recently built a outdoor avairy for my precious babies. My question is being that it is 14 x 14 x 10 feet high is it wise to put some type of bedding down to cushion the flloor and is sand ok? If it is then what kind?
Thank you for your help

That’s a nice sized and good-looking aviary you’ve built for your birds. Here are some things to consider about your question of using a bedding:
1) Are your birds flighted, so that they can fly or glide to the floor if they fell from high in the cage?
2) If you put down a bedding, how are you going to change/clean it to keep the cage environment sanitary and clean?

Here are a couple of other observations that you may want to consider:
1) It appears by the plant in the upper right-hand side of your image that you are in a tropical or high heat environment. If the aviary is on what appears to be a cement slab, will that become highly heated and radiate additional high heat to your birds causing a possible health concern? Also, the block wall to the right may add to a high heat issue.
2) In your image there are not a lot of plants around the aviary. Is it possible that your birds will feel exposed and become stressed from this open environment? Adding additional large plants around the aviary may address both the heat and stress issues.
3) Are you going to add a vestibule with a second door to reduce the possibility of a bird flying out an open door and escaping?

Good luck in making your aviary the safest, healthiest and most enjoyable space for your birds.
