Talking male or female cockatiel

Hi everyone, i am new to this wonder forum. i just recently purchased a cockatiel from a local pet store, and was wondering is my bird a male or a female. At the store they told me the birds are 6 months old, that being said are they able to be sexed yet? i read that they molt at 6 months. i have an idea of what sex it is but do not trust the pet store.
so heres a picture of it. :)

if more or better pictures are needed i can take them.

guessing female by the head........but a sure sign is when they moult, a female will have spots under her wings on her flight feathers, and bars on the underside of her tail. A Male will have SOLID grey on his underside of the primaries and a solid grey tail underneath.

Males have yellow heads and brighter cheek patches.

if you want to take some tail pics and post them it might help.

I'm guessing female, but you'll know for sure after "she" moults. Looks a lot like my Charlie-girl, and we've found out she's a "she".

Welcome!

ok, after she moults, if her new feathers are coming in just as they appear in that pic, its a female. I am still going female by the coloration of the head tho.

Pretty girl. She will probably molt when she is around 7-8 months when spring really sets in. If you start selling a lot of yellow pin feathers around her head during the molt, she may be a he.
