my tiel loves pasta

I was sitting at my computer eating rice mixed with scrambled eggs and cheese. My pied tiel Pepper, jumped in the bowl and really started eating. She would get mad if I tried to get a bite. she came up with it all over her face. it was really cute.
I went to the amish country over the week end and bought vegatable pasta.
I made it for our dinner and cut some up to see if she would eat it. when I went back to get the cup it was empty. I think I have created a pasta junkie. is this okay for her :?: I have trouble getting her to eat greens and this is made with spinach so I don't think it will hurt her.I'm afraid she might gain too much weight. do you know if this is true :?:

This sounds like a start (since she wont eat fruits n veggies) and pasta is actually healthy for them!!! With or without sauce, birds can enjoy eating pasta!

I've had my conure, Noel steal some "spagetti" from my plate once, took a nibble, dropped it, and came back for more! LOL

my fids love mac. without cheese. for some reason they do not like cheese. found that out with turnover bowls at the bottom of the cage or on the floor. they will eat most of the greens especially broccoli and green beans.

Birds are lactose intolerant. They lack the enzyme necessary to digest most cheese. You can add a small bit of hard cheese, like cheddar or parmesan, but only as a treat.

Most pasta is ok in VERY limited amounts. It is usually too high in iron for birds. That having been said, I do offer it about once a week to mine. I would think the veggie pasta is a better choice than most grocery store wheat products.

You might want to try this for your tiels. Boil one cubed sweet potato in water until soft. Save the water and cook some brown rice in it. Try mashing up the sweet potato with the juice of half of an orange and add about a teaspoon of peanut butter (all natural is best, but the others will work). The peanut butter mash is usually liked by most birds. I add the cooked rice to thawed mixed frozen veggies. You may have to run the veggies through a processor to make them small enough for your little guys. I have all big parrots. I would imagine you'd get quite a few meals out of both of these mixes.
