I'm new here and need to find a home for 2 lovebirds
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. I have 2 lovebirds that I need to find a new home for. We were sold them as pets and they turned wild soon after we got them (about 6 years ago). They're destroying our house and now we have 2 young children and don't have the time to care for these birds. I'd like to find them a place where they can just be birds and the new owner won't have to worry about things being destroyed or children being attacked. I live in Warminster, PA and would have no problem travelling up to an hour or 2 to find them a good home. I haven't had any luck finding a place to take them and don't want to just give them to any random person that might ask for them if I put them up on craigslist or something like that. I'm not looking to get anything for them and will give them and their cages to anyone that is willing to find them a new home or take them in. I'd want them to be together in any place that they go. Even though they live in separate cages, they spend all of their time outside of their cages together. Any and all help in finding them a new home would be appreciated.

I will copy you post to my club members and see if anyone is interested. If you have trouble finding a good home for them and you absolutely have to get them out of your house, let me know. We also have members who rehome birds.

Here's more of the story: I bought lovebird 1 in the fall of 2000. We (my wife and I) were told it was a male. When we purchased it it was very friendly. We could play with it. put it on our shoulder, feed it, etc. Then a few months later it laid an egg. after that it got very nasty. it would bite all the time, attack us for no reason, etc. it would fly at us and strike from across the room. And it would chew up everything it could to use for its nest. so it destroyed our bedroom (chewed furniature, shades, TV cables, pictures, everything). The place we got it went out of business. so we went to a different bird store, and they suggested getting a male to put with it. so we bought another lovebird which we thought was male to be with the first lovebird. Long story short, the 2nd one laid an egg. Obviously not male. And now we had 2 birds that attack and destroy, etc. I do my best to prepare my room (take down the shades, hide all paper, cover the TV cables, etc) a couple of times a week to let them out and get some flying and play time outside of their cage, but I can't do it anymore. It's too much effort and it's not fair to me or the birds. They need to find a new home. |

I'm trying to find a sanctuary for them, but I'm not having a lot of luck. the few places I've found either don't respond at all, or respond once and don't follow up when it's time for me to take the birds.

If I get a chance I'll take some pictures of my bedroom. they eat wallpaper, plastic, paper, wood, everything except for metal and fabric.

I don't understand...
1. Why you don't put them in seperate cages. 2. Why you let them fly free if they are so distructive.
