Out and about with your fids

Hi everyone, thought it might be fun to start a thread to find out how many of us take our fids out and about with us and what sort of places to we take them.

My (one and only fid) Galah, Karma goes just about everywhere with us. We take him when we are visiting friends/family, he absolutely loves going to my parents place, my dad loves him and spoils him rotten, he comes with me when I walk the dogs, we take him to the beach where he loves climbing over the drift wood and rolling in the sand. I want to be able to start taking him to work with me but still working on getting him to stay on his portable cage and playstand for slightly longer periods first.

So who else takes their guys out and about, and what sort of places to the like to go???

Diane

Well, I try to take Winkie out every little while. 3 weeks after I got him (around New Yrs) we went down to AL - over 12 hrs in the truck. So I took him, naturally. I wasn't about to let him out of my sight, lol. He did well, seem ed happy, etc. Since then I've not taken him out very often. I took him to a biology class I'm taking & he ended up disrupting us. So not too often yet, especially as it keeps getting cold around here. He likes going outside on my shoulder & chirping back at the house sparrows.

I have taken my BH Caique, Pepita, to my classroom on several occasions. The weather, however, in NW Ohio has not been cooperating, or I'd get her out more. I am currently training her to use an Aviator harness so I can take her more places.

I take Buck EVERYWHERE!!...The convenient store spoils him, as do my parents and ex-wife. I have taken him to my PT appointments, to take the kids to school, etc. He is spoiled rotten everywhere he goes!

Scarlett is the only one who will wear a harness at this point so she is the only one that can go outside. She plays in the yard and last weekend she had her first trip to the park.

Before when we were not scared of losing Doyle (we have heard too many horror stories now to do take him out without a harness) we took him alot of places. He visited family, went to the pet store and even helped pick out the Christmas tree. Once he gets used to a harness he can come out again.

I take Zoey with me often when I go to non food places. Sophie is still a little spooked about the great outdoors so my trips out with her are limited to around the parking lot for now.

valo comes with me a lot - now that he's flighted, we're a little more limited since the cage has to come too... but nevertheless, we visit friends, take road trips and visit BF's parents... if the day's right and the weather fine, he can come to work with me...

rarely though do i take him shopping or such...

You took a conure to a library? I bet it wasn't a quiet visit!

He was very well behaved at the library. every body came over to see him. they were makeing all the noise trying to make him say hello. you know how people are when they see a parrot, they all assume they say hello. he does say hello but he wouldnt do it for them, he's shy around new people, he never sqwacks when hes on me, (finger, arm, or shoulder) or on his playstand, or even in his cage. he just sqwacks when i leave in the morning, just a couple of sqwacks maybe five, and when i first get home, sqwacks till i put things down and can get him out of the cage, and sometimes when i leave the room. he useually just growls, quacks, but not loud, whispers "good boy" when i cover him at nite.
