At dinner time I heard Ashlings' "where are you?" whistle a little closer than usual and when I looked up she was scuttling along the kitchen floor towards us. I had left her on her cage/ play branch where she usually STAYS PUT- but she had obviously decided to go on an adventure! I gave her some spinache for her efforts and put her back in her cage- door shut- while I finished dinner.
In my room, where her cage is, I keep the power plugs turned off when I'm not in there, for safety reasons. After dinner I went in and I had just turned on the power point to the TV/ DVD player etc, and the connector plugs went BBBZZZZZZTTTTT and flashed with yellow electricity and I'm like HOLY CRAP! I quickly turned it off at the plug and when I looked in a connector plug there was liquidy bird poo in it!!! Ashling had apparently decided to go and climb on the electrical cords and poop before going to find me. If they had of been on she would have been ELECTROCUTED!!! I'm now going to build a barrier so that she can't even get anywhere near the cords in case this happens in the future and the power is ON! A reminder to all parrot/ animal owners to be extra careful with electrical plugs and not let pets anywhere near them!!!! I nearly learned the hard way!
