Exclamation Close Call!

At dinner time I heard Ashlings' "where are you?" whistle a little closer than usual and when I looked up she was scuttling along the kitchen floor towards us. I had left her on her cage/ play branch where she usually STAYS PUT- but she had obviously decided to go on an adventure! I gave her some spinache for her efforts and put her back in her cage- door shut- while I finished dinner.

In my room, where her cage is, I keep the power plugs turned off when I'm not in there, for safety reasons. After dinner I went in and I had just turned on the power point to the TV/ DVD player etc, and the connector plugs went BBBZZZZZZTTTTT and flashed with yellow electricity and I'm like HOLY CRAP! I quickly turned it off at the plug and when I looked in a connector plug there was liquidy bird poo in it!!! Ashling had apparently decided to go and climb on the electrical cords and poop before going to find me. If they had of been on she would have been ELECTROCUTED!!!
I'm now going to build a barrier so that she can't even get anywhere near the cords in case this happens in the future and the power is ON!
A reminder to all parrot/ animal owners to be extra careful with electrical plugs and not let pets anywhere near them!!!! I nearly learned the hard way!

Wow....close call indeed. Glad nobody got hurt. My fids occsionally decide to come and find us as well when we're in another room and they can hear us. Sometimes we don't even hear them come down off of their play stands. Then, here they come walkig into the room while we stand there surprised-we've learned to listen very carefully.

Goes to show you can never get too comforatble. You have to keep an eye on them at all times.

Double check for any damage to power cords, surge protectors or whatever else you use and replace if possible.
