Hi- yu can take Quito off the list - I'm filling out the paper work for her in April. Already been chatting with Karen on her. I do more than sponsor - I also buy toys for them throughout hte year :-) (Check out Val's new cage for me and tell me if he likes his latest)

Maggie I just love.. I'm sorry to see she is back there, I know they tried to put her in a foster home the same time I took BeBe. Read the file on her - kind of sad. She had on original owner named 'Barbara' and when she came into the GF would often whisper 'Barbara". After Barbara she was dumped somewhere in Utah and was left in the backyard in a wire cage with another green Wing. Eventually she ended up in GF, but I know she has been suffering because she started plucking and not eating very well. I think she really needs to be in a home where she can get the one on one. I"ll keep my fingers crossed that soemone will come along for her!!! (Is she still being kept up front by the office?)

Thats fantastic....thank you !

I have gotten 16 people to sponsor 20 birds. All from other forums I post on. They all send little care packages for thier bird & the others. Toys, treats, food, perches. They send the packages to me, and I take them when I go on Tuesday.

I also try and take pics & vids of all the sponsored babies, and post them so thier sponsors can see them & hear them in some cases.

I do believe Maggie is now staying at Julies, but I will check tomorrow. I know shes not out front. I'll see if I can some pics of her.

Thanx again !

Yes, Nigel is a Great Billed Parrot.....he is one of the first 2 domestically bred Tanygnathgus Great Billed Parrots in the united states. He was willed to The Gabriel Foundation for education when the owner could no longer care for him due to health issues.

He may need a beak trim. I'm going to check tomorrow. There may be a reason why it hasn't been trimmed. Probably if it doesn't bother him, or he can't be handled, the stress would be to much, or depending how old he is.

bthomas Thank you, let me know if you have any questions.

Minimama, here's a little background on Quito, if you don't already know.

She came to the foundation from The Woody Creek Tavern when her owner died. She has kidney disease, scissor beak, and will mutilate her leg if it's not bandaged.

I'll try and get more info and pics of her for you.

I was thinking that...it looked longer than austins beak. Im guessing austin is a great billed parrot too. What are they like? They seem so gorgeous looking...The oversized beak was the thing that made me fall for the alexandrines...the great billed's are just insanely awesome!
