They do not stand up all the way, right? I always wondered about that. I think they are supposed to be great pets.

Yeah they were hanging off the front of the perch looking like they would fall off.LOL They were soooo cute. Generally I dont thinkpetco is the greatest place to get a bird.Theyre very expensive and they dont socialize the birds but Im tempted linnies are really hard to find around Boston.

There are a couple of great lineolated parakeet groups on yahoo. I was interested in getting a linnie for a while before we decided on the hahns macaw, and this last weekend I was fortunate enough to hold one for the first time. They are really cute little buggers. This guy was very squirmy and obviously not handled a whole lot yet but from what I hear they are great little pets. Less skittish than budgies, less aggressive than parrotlets and very quiet as birds go. they make cute little noises that remind me of finches. Very pretty birds with huge eyes. You can find a few videos on youtube if you look around. I might still get one someday, and I say if you find one, get it! They are pretty hard to find in the US. There is only 1 breeder in my state that I have found. I'd love to get a breeding pair. They have lovely color mutations, too.

I have a linnie. Sure, they stand up, like any bird. They just sleep in a pointed down position. They are a little larger than a parrotlet. I started out looking for a p'let but settled on a linnie because they are more laid back. Parrotlets do have a lot of playful personality, whereas linnies are little lovie dovies. ChooChoo is just a sweetheart. I've only had her a few months, and she's already talking and giving kissing noises. They are just adorable, good natured. Unlike p'lets, they use their feet to hold food, like larger parrots.

Here's the link to Yahoo group. Lots of great people there, including breeders and suppliers. lineolated : Lineolated parakeets

If you have any questions....just ask.

LuAnn. I have heard and I have seen in photo that they look like they sit at an angle. I never see them up straight. They do sit up? Just had not seen them do that.

That may be because people so often comment on how they sleep.

Luann,

I've read that Linnies have very large, wet poops. Is it harder to clean off the cage or floors?
How loud are their vocalizations?

Linnie's poops are more runny, I'm told, because they eat a lot of fresh food. They aren't large, except for the first one in the morning. She doesn't poop all night. Not any harder to clean than any poop.

ChooChoo doesn't ever go to the cage floor. I'm not sure why. I think many do, but it's at eye level with my dog, and that may be why. But since she doesn't, I put paper on top of the grate. SUPER easy to clean!

They are very quiet birds. Occassionally, she calls to me while I'm fixing her breakfast, but not usually. She chirps and chatters sometimes. And she says her name a lot. I'm told that they are quietier than P'lets, but I don't know that for a fact.

Google them for more information. They are really wonderful parrots. They're not very common because they aren't super easy to breed, but they are becoming more popular as word spreads and there are more breeders.
