Caique can be quite loud when they want your attention. My caique is usually loud in the morning.

The best parrots for apartment/townhome living would probably include green cheek conures, cockatiels, lineolated parakeets, and other species of parakeet. These birds are moderately quiet with voices that shouldnt peirce your ears or reach the neighbors.

I think I read the Poicephalus parrots are on the quiet side and they're about the same size as a Caique.

Hi thanks for the reply=)
i was looking at the Brown-Headed Parrot.
I saw an article that says they are quiet compared to other parrots.
Keep in mind the noise does not bother me lol. I play the guitar pretty much all day so noise is not a problem, im just concerned for my neighbours lol
In europe my mother has a cockatail and when i visit her i know how noisy that little guy is.
He pretty much wakes me up every mornign lol
But he is not very sociable , she picked him up at an animal shelter and i think he was a bird that had some hard times.
After 3 years she had him she still can not touch him , he will nto even come out of his cage.
We tryed living the door opened for hours at a time and will refuse to come out.

I wanted to get a caiques but where i live i have a hard time finding a reliable breeder.
I tryed a pet shop and they asked me for 3000$ and i thinkt hey are asking me to much.
I have the money for it, but i saw website where they sale for 800$. So 3000$ seems like a rip off at a pet shop.
I will try and find a Brown-Headed Parrot , wish me luck.

Hi. What about a pionus? They are cute, love attention and are quiet. The blue heads can be good talkers too. I have 2 blue head babies for sale, if your interested let me know. Thanks.
P.S. I have 1 caique baby too price is $999.

if you're going to get a caique, maybe get the white bellied caique. i read they're calmer compare to the black headed caique (my rocky is a black headed caique).

I have a wb caique and a gcc. Do you live in the USA? 3k is outrageous! I spent around $800 for a dna-sexed male wb caique. The caique can be very loud when he wants me and knows I am out of eyesight. This means if I am trying to take a nap, there are screams. The screams usually die down, but after 30 mins. or so. However, I think he is quiet when I am not in the house. I live in a large townhouse and share one wall, and no one has complained, but I think this is because my neighbors are very tolerant. I can hear him as I walk down the street calling for me. Also, dont expect to get anything done with a caique on your shoulder, lap, etc. THey want constant interactive attn. My conure, on the other hand, is very quiet. He might let out a loud squeak when he is calling for me, but otherwise he is very quiet. He is exceptionally affectionate, loves to snuggle, and is good at just hanging out with me while I work.

My caiques can get loud. I'd be afraid to live in an apartment with them.

If you go to Caique Crazy! and click on 'sounds' you can hear a caique scream, amongst other sounds.

Black heads and white bellies do not vary in sound nor temperament, it all depends on the individual bird.

Hi thx for replys.
I looked at a lot of sites and seems like the Poicephalus are failry quiet parrots, compared to others.
at the moment these breeder i found has a BROWN-HEADED and a MEYER'S parrot.
Both are listed for 500$ wich i believe is pretty good and i will also be able to get a really good cage.
they also have a sun conrue , but the breeder told me that they are extremely loud and will not be a good idea in a town house or appartment.
i guess it depends on the bird. When i got my dog i was worried about barking , but he nevers ever barks, unless someone comes to the door.
