If I'm sad/depressed, Gracie talks to me a lot, as well as wanting more shoulder time, kisses & skritches.....
and of course, Max comes over, hops up on the couch & lays his big furry head on my lap. When I go upstairs, Petey talks softly to me telling me how he's "such a handsome Budgie" and he repeats something my Mom says to him all the time, "It always makes you feel better when you get love from the little bird"..... If I'm ticked off & mad about something, Max goes to his bed to stay outta the way... Gracie goes into her cage, up her sleeping spot & goes quiet.... Petey is completely different. If I go upstairs & say even two words with anger in my voice, Petey scolds me like crazy. "KEET KEETKEETKEEEEEETKEET KEETKEEEEEKEETKEET!!!!!!!" If I try to talk over him, he raises his volume. If he's out, he'll fly around me in circles Keeting & chattering at me. Like he's try to tell me, "Anger is infectious. If yer not gonna talk nice, then shut yer beak!"

Thanks for your responses, Vega and Buteo. I enjoyed reading about your fids and how they respond to your emotional states.
Buteo, I love how your Petey comforts you when you're out of sorts. Also, how do you like having a Bouvier des Flandres? I've always loved them but have never had one. |

It's too bad that you've never had the pleasure of sharing your life with a Bouvier.
They're GREAT dogs - Big strong, loving protectors of their families and very, very, smart!!! Max is the third of the breed we've owned and I must say he's an extremely well behaved boy -especially around other animals. He loves Petey & Gracie. He's so gentle around them for such a big dog.

My birds are totally in tune to what is going on with me.
I have Bipolar disorder with my baseline on the depressive end. When I am depressed and sad my birds will come down off the tops of their cages to try and look at me in the face. They want to be near me. They are worried...I try not to let them see me cry It is really hard on them. Then when I am manic they freak out and get agitated circling the cages/perches/playstand and moving moving moving just like me....but not wanting much to do with me (can't blame 'em) I have been balanced for sometime now and the birds have too. In fact my oldest CAG hasn't bitten me bad in monthes. They know I am better and I swear they are part of the reason........oh and the buttload of meds too. Heheh Yeh I am so called crazy but my birds love me anyways...... ![]() |
