definitely not a gold cap.... i'm with scott on this - never heard of a hybrid sun/dusk (which doesn't mean it doesn't happen)... the eyes do look very dusky-like though. tough one... i'll look around later....

whatever the outcome - you have one gorgeous little bird there

My guess would be a hybrid of a gold cap and a peach front. He has a peach front face.

Hello LoveMyBeak,

My gold cap does have a few red feathers that stick out at the top of his wings. To my opinion your bird looks just like a gold cap. I don't know a whole lot about them as to what happened to the yellow on top of your birds head.
I rescued my bird so I don't know his age. I did dna sex him and I know he's a boy for sure. I wish they had a test for age!!
The Sun Conures, Jendays and Gold Caps are all in the same class. I also have a Sun Conure and my Gold Cap is bigger than my sun. They are bigger than a sun conure but smaller than a blue crowned conure.

The only counres that can cross breed that I'm aware of are the Sun, Jenday, and Nanday. Never heard of anything crossed with a dusky.
Actually, with few exceptions and I'm not sure which ones, nearly all conures can breed and reproduce - it may produce sterile offspring though, but they can reproduce. I'm currently hand-feeding (for a friend) a few cherry-head x sun crosses. In the past I've hand-fed a gcc x painted baby also.

Looks like a hybrid to me. Could be the sun/dusk...Did you get him from a breeder? If you did and thats what they said its probably right.

Something about the face/eyes reminds me of a Patagonian (though the coloring is def. influenced by a sun)

I'm going with Nansun. The tips of his clipped feathers look very much like my Nan's. He DOES look like a goldcapped with 'less control' over his coloring, and I think Goldcaps look very much like Nans as it is.

It's possible he could be a Dusk/Sun, but I'm leaning more towards the other.
