Tielfan~ What an unusual circumstance! I can well imagine you'd be more vigilant after that. Your poor little budgie! Thank goodness you came home when you did!
Tielmama~ Cockatoos are so highly intelligent. Amazing. How is ol' Whiteboy doing? Give him scritches from me and the fids!
Joe&Young~ No more "great escapes." I am waiting, though, and will let you know. I probably should go ahead and get a carabiner or some other type of clip just in case but part of me wants to see if it happens again. Still, their safety is paramount.
Yesterday, upon arrving home, they were particularly sweet. I took them out of their cage and gave them fresh veggies and a bit of fruit and pasta on their perch. I was at the kitchen counter preparing my son's dinner and Roo kept flying over (even though he's had his wings freshly clipped this weekend- a reminder to all 'tiel owners that it is true; a 'tiel still has flight after a clip!) to me and landing on the counter. It was if he were saying, "I'm here! I missed you!" I would put him back on his perch and he would return. I love them so!
