PinkParrot, I think I can answer the clay question!!! Macaws, as well as some amazons and pionus may eat fruits that are toxic to their bodies. By eating the clay it neutralizes the toxins thus making the foods safe to eat.
They had a show on animal planet (Most Extreme? or some other show) about this, and some humans even eat the clay.... and monkeys are also eating foods that are toxic to them, and some have found out that by eating charcoal it neutralizes the toxins... I'll see if I can dig up any info on that... Scarlet Macaw This one is quite good! Parrots That Eat Dirt - Science Stories - HighlightsKids.com

Don't worry, I will be asking all these questions at the Tambopata Research Centre. The digital camera I am getting has a 32x optical zoom so I should be able to zoom right in on them. I need to figure out how to do video broadcasts, preferably better than Youtube. I can shoot snippets on the digital camera and use an SD card to transfer the clips.
