Little yellow packages of splenda

Has anyone else had their birds react very aggressively to the little yellow Splenda packets?

I was shaking a few to put in my tea today, and Zoey, my female blue-fronted amazon, started making the strangest little cooing sound, and then lept off her perch to attach my hand. Unfortunately, instead of attacking the packets, she managed to connect with my index finger. Ouch!

I experimented a little, and she seems to have a specific dislike (to say the least) of these little yellow envelopes.

Nope, can't say I have! However, Charlie my mitred will attack me if I turn the kitchen faucet on, if I cough/sneeze/clear my throat, and will attack the camera or phone if it's in my hand.

Eek! You definitely have to keep an eye on him don't you? There doesn't seem to be too much that phases Zoey, other than this new thing with the splenda.

i think they all have their things, so to say

valo hates it when i turn on the faucet (if he can't get underneath it, that is); and he hates the shrek3 toy we bought for him.... but it works good as a defense item for my friend who he hates more than everything else LOL
he'll squak like crazy if i vacuum....

Splenda contains some ingrediant (I'll ask my dad) that is a neurotoxin. Be careful and never let your bird injest it, it's dangerous.

Isnt it weird how the most simple of things bother our babies? Joe put the collar on our dachsund Toby a while back. The clink of the tags just freaked out our tiel Bertie. She'd run to the back of the cage. Seems she's adjusted which is great.. unlike my conures..who still hate the phone or the cell phone and want to eat it...

My Macaw's hate the phone with a passion. They think its evil. If it rings, they go crazy. My Sun COnure also squaks at the vacuum & gets really mad if I turn the water on & won't let her take a bath. Thats why I can't do dishes with her on my shoulder anymore, She tries to jump in. LOL

maybe its the color. tiki hates yellow too. he hates school busses, and i put some water in a yellow bowl on the picnic table on a hot day, in case he wanted to cool off. he freaked at the sight of it. i put the water in a black bowl and he jumped right in.

Crystal-the squaking at the vacuum is a instinct thing. ..or so i read. Vacuums have a distinct sound similar to incoming storm. ...it makes the bird call in the flock. Ü
