Scott, you have to realize that you posted several times about how frusterated you were that our bird would not come to you. You took away the toys to get her to play with you. A majority of us see this as cruel since toys are necessary for a birds health. You then post about getting rid of the sun conure and getting a bird that you will hand feed. It seems as though you got rid if the sun becuase you were not getting what you want from her in the desired time frame. We gave you advice...you didn't listen. We told you not to take out the toys, you did anyway. We said give it more time and you didn't. I'm sorry but I dont buy the bipolar excuse. That's exactly what it is is an excuse. I am bipolar as well and on meds. I have 5 birds all of different sizes, one of them is a baby macaw who doesn't know her own strength. I'm not going to get rid of her because she gets carried away and nips me too hard. It is my responsibility to teach her to be nice. I dont have a problem with patience when it comes to my birds because I know the basics of bird care. If your lack of patience was an issue with the bird then your meds were off in the first place. If you had to increase your dosage then you didn't give it enough time to work before you got rid of your bird. The increase does not help with just one dose. It has to have time to get into your system and that would take at least a week or two, maybe longer. If there was no change then you need to talk to your psychologist. There are lots of people of have no patience who are not bipolar so like I said, bipolar is just the excuse. You came on this board asking for advice. Problem is that you dont like the advice you are being giving. You are doing things the way you want to and expecting results in a short period of time. Birds are not like dogs and cats. You have to EARN their trust and that takes time. Period. I do think maybe a dog or a cat would be a better fit for you. If you dont have the patience to get a 4 month old sun conure to trust you then you dont have the patience to hand feed a baby bird. Hand feeding is dangerous enough but add no patience to it and its going to be lethal. I"m sorry but maybe you should start listening to the people on this board rather than get an attitude because you aren't hearing what you want to hear.

Well apparently there was something wrong with the bird I returned. I talked to someone before purchasing my other bird. After I explained to them all the differences I noticed in the bird I was buying and the bird I brought back they said the bird must have been sick. Also, the "Sun Conure" I brought back (5 months old) looked very different then this new one, also 5 months old. The previous bird was larger but the same age, much less colors, but the same age and only being fed seed.

Anyway, I don't want to beat a dead horse anymore. I'm afraid to ask anymore questions on this board anymore to avoid ridicule.

"criticism is how we grow as individuals - nobody does everything right and the perfect way in the eyes of other people; and we don't have to (which makes us individuals as you stated). however, everybody should be able to take criticism - especially if it is deserved."

I accept that. But from just about EVERY person that reads the thread, like come on. Why does everyone seem to HAVE TO put in their 2 cents? Just to be heard? I know what I did, I read the remarks. If anyone else wants to throw daggers at me send them to stopthemaddess@yahoo.com.

PS: Thanks a bunch to all the tips and advice, and yes, some of the constructive critisim was good but PLEASE stop.
