Bird Noise Spectrum

How does an African Grey rank on the talkative and noisiness scale?

Say 1 being "pretty dang noisy" to 10 being "wear ear protection and replace glass windows often" ?

I have learned that all these birds like to make noise; it's part of what they do and who they are. (It's also really cute to those of us who like birds) But if someone can enlighten me on where the various birds rank? Are there any species of large pet birds that are generally fairly quiet with lower decibel screeches? I am being a little facetious here but it would be good to know.

Also I suppose any particular bird could end up being a real talker despite the species? Does training really help with the noise? For example if LOUD screeches get no response are they inclined to do the loud screeches less? If quietness gets positive attention, then maybe they'll be a little quieter? On the other hand I wouldnt want to make them into something they are not...Just thinking out loud I guess. Noise and tolerance to noise is my BIGGEST concern regarding a bird for my family. Thanks in advance for advice.

Sincerely,
Thinking it through.

Hmm, I would rate my two greys as a 0 then. They talk allot but I dont consider them noisey at all. Every so often my one will set off an alarm call that is piercing but its like once or twice and only when your ear is RIGHT THERE, LOL. But its not everyday and then I might lable him a one at most. But other than that all they do is talk and make sounds they have heard and not loud so I guess it would depend on the sounds they learn. IE: mine do a hammering sound they learned while the neighbors built a house, but its far away, and one of the quieter sounds as well as the far away rottweiler barking.

Now on the other hand I would rate my Too as a 1 some days, a three on others, and when she is really happy she can be a good 9.
My new mac is about a 2 but I expect him to be a 10 on some days.

Teach your birds to whisper and reward them for whispering lol. I have heard people who do that. With my alex i let her scream in the morning for a few minutes and in the evening but then i make her shush, just to let her get it out of her system so she isnt screaming all day when im not home.

The most quiet or least loud anyway were the Vos Ekkies. They had a soothing sound and no screeching.
We live with 1 CAG that is a 7 and 1 that is a 0-1.
The Kakarikis have been very quiet and the Pygmy Ground Doves are extremely quiet. The rest are all quite the noise makers.

Each bird is different and yes teaching them to whisper can help.
