Parront moving needs advice

I need advice from anyone who has advice about moving with a orange wing. I was wondering if letting the bird stay over with a friend while moving?
Purdy has stayed and feels comfortable there. Then bringing her over after. Is this going to be a big shock (too shocking) Should I bring bird over before I move in and show the bird where her new place is before and talk to her anout it? will I have to do a big adjustment process to be safe?

any advice appreciated

It's probably a good idea to take her over to the new place while things are being taken over there... if you need to do any house preperations (i.e. extensive cleaning, spraying, etc) before you move in, bring her and her cage/supplies last. Explain to her what's going on, too. Treat her like you would a child and try to make it a gradual process.

Although they are a bit unsettled (and may be picking it up because I hate moving so much), I have found that my pets generally settle in pretty well once they realize that their humans are coming along and life is generally unchanged. If you are moving a long distance and the gradual approach won't work, I think Purdy will be fine. Congratulations on the new digs!

I moved Bogart and Allegra without any real problems. Your bird is an amazon and I seriously doubt that he or she will even care. As long as the grub is the same!! lolololol!!

I had no problem moving from FL to NY with my then 4 Amazons. We packed most of the stuff in a upack and the animals in the minivan and we drove straight through (24 hours). No one was worse for wear.

All of my flock travel with me. Their consistant person is me. They don't have any trouble, as long as they have family, that I've found.

Another thing I have found helpful for 'sensitive' birds (if your orange wing is one) and that is to move them into the new surroundings early in the day. This gives them the day to adjust prior to going to bed.
