"Mouth" Update (long)

For all of you who remember me talking about Mouth, I've got an update... for those who haven't, you can read these threads...

Well for the update... Saw Mouth a week or so ago... He's really destroyed his one toy, only thing left is the ropes and center pieces of wood which have been chewed on.

With having an actual cage they supposedly clean it more often as well as feed him more often.. and supposedly he's being handled to... however being that I haven't seen this I am doubtful. Supposedly he gets a bath once a week, a banana every other day, and food...

(using some "phrases" in the son's words...)

Well, I may have really messed up... I tried, and can't do any more. I called animal control on them. They only know of two peolpe who would have done so, and me being the main culprit, mother and son came to visit me (although only the son came to my door to talk). He was so upset on how I could do something like that TO HIM, when he's already going through so much S*** with his family, and now he can't have any friends over, not even girlfriends (almost blurted out that that was probably a good thing! basically a "me, me me" kind of situation), then went on to say that he handles Mouth (last I seen that bird is scared, well you know what... of hands or any person going into his cage!), that Mouth gets a banana every other day, that he gets a shower once a week (who could ever tell??? ), and that he (son) buys the food that the store recommended for the type of parrot Mouth is (an Orange Wing Zon).

I asked what food? Last I saw Mouth was eating the woody woodpecker brand (?) wild bird seed... If not that it's the parrot food by 3-D pet products sold at Walmart. I asked what store, and he refused to answer. He even tried attacking me back, saying that I wanted Mouth for my own reasons (for what grounds would I want Mouth when I only want him out of there and in a home where he WOULD be cared for right? I know I can't properly care for a bird like Mouth so I wouldn't even want him as my own!) and that I don't have a job (actually, I do... but I couldn't get a word in), and that he (the son) works his *donkeys rear end* off to live (since his family only provides a place to sleep and shower... nothing else) and care for Mouth. In short, the family is so greedy that they don't even see that their animals are in distress, don't mind the fact that the family itself is havoc because they can't even help eachother.

After the animal control officer went over there (I've talked to him before but he doesn't know that!) he called me up and he said there really wasn't anything he could do... and that some birds just pluck, like cockatoos, who are neurotic. (can anyone agree with the ACO that a cockatoo may pluck just because he's crazy??? he said this with "16 years of parrot care under his belt" )

And what's my reward??? A visit from animal control! I already know this ACO, too, cause she was over here nearly 2 years ago when Kodi was a pup... She was going to pick him and his family (akita mum and 2 brothers) up to go to the animal shelter, but we decided to foster them instead (mum and brothers have already been adopted out). The complaint was that I had 1 dog and 30 some birds in one room. Well, it's 14 birds, 1 dog, and 2 cats. Some of the birds have been put up for adoption, one of which already adopted (Kirby) which is why I say I have 14 birds even though there are 15 in my signature. She caught me in the mess of doing various chores, one of which was stripping some dry branches (in my room) and then hanging the branches from the ceiling for extra perches, and had yet to clean up my mess (and the birds! ). So other than the room being a little messy, she actually liked the setup! So all in all, the complaint against me was unfounded.


I tried... I know I can't save them all... but I tried... and I don't really know what else I could do to try and get him in a better situation.

.....and I hope nobody turns me in for having two cats and 30-some birds in the living room or I am off to the pokey (actually don't think it is illegal.....I asked about kennel licenses when I moved here........) hmmmm

I just looked at all the different posts about 'Mouth'. I will be saying prayers for Mouth who is so beautiful. And for you for being a wonderful, caring person and trying for as long as you have!! The original post was for Nov 06!

How Awful! I swear, some people are full of it! I would have taken the bird, but, sometimes we just can't.

A few weeeks ago, I was down if Florida. The woman who cleans my aunt and uncle's house has a M2 and took a SC2 out of mercy. This bird is in dire need of a good home. She shakes if you get wihtin three feet and hasn't been handled. She was only given about a 1/4 cup of seed two to three times a week and nothing else. She was housed in a cage I woun't even start describing. She told the woman "She has a lot of issues." Birds are NOT born with issues, they are accumulated over time by people who do have issues.

It wasn't that this person didn't want the bird, she didn't need her, but took it from the owner anyways. She bought the bird a huge cage, she's got lots of toys and is on a good diet. She told me "I'll give her to you, cage and all free if you will give her a good home". Poor bird, I would have too if it hadn't been for the fact I had no way to get the bird to GA. Maybe this summer...

Anyhow, I'm sorry to hear this Monica. I know you tried your hardest, but some people are just butts about things. They are too selfish and greedy and have no interest for anything but their feelings. I probably should,'t say anymore...
